We did not specifically use your name because the article was not aimed directly at you. But the Bell is a free-market publication and much of what major sports-writers are covering today has to do with what could be called «the criminalization of sport.»
From steroids to Vick’s attacks on dogs, sports writers are called increasingly on to cover multiple malfeasances. Unfortunately, if the police, or similar authorities are involved, the majority of sports writers seem instinctively side with the authorities, almost without question.
You pointed out that Vick was engaged in a «sadistic criminal activity.» Are you talking about gambling? From our point of view, the criminalization of gambling is ludicrous. In other words, Vick’s activities, if seen from this perspective, are criminal simply because the state declares it so. If you know of a libertarian sports writer, please let us know.
Sincerely,
the Editors
Response: When talking about criminal activties, I was referring to the use of dogs in an inhumane way.
