Nestor De La Torre has announced his resignation as Director of the National Selection of the Mexican Soccer Federation or FMF.

The news came in light of the absence of De La Torre in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico for the game between Mexico and Venezuela.

The resignation took place after a lengthy discussion with the highest authorities of the governing body of the federation.

Justino Compean (President of the FMF) and Decio de Maria (Technical Secretary) were involved in the reunion taking into account their positions within the FMF.

It also comes in light of the petition signed by 12 of its players to not participate in the game against Venezuela if called.

The petitions were discussed in the emergency meeting which is taking place while Mexico is playing against Venezuela. De ;La Torre came out of the meeting saying that he was «not happy with the results».

Regardless, the FMF refused to accept the resignation of De La Torre and ask for another meeting to resolve the situation of Mexican Soccer before it spirals out of control.

I have received comments about the state of Mexican Soccer and what is happening does not help the team.

The sides that are involved have to sit down and hammer an agreement about the punishments, the parties, and the complaints of the players.

The alternative would be for the impasse to continue and lingering damage to any chances Mexico may have in future tournaments such as the CONCACAF Gold Cup or the World Cup.
