EEUU 0-0 Colombia/ USA 0-0 Colombia
The USA and Colombia measured their forces in their friendly game which took place in the PPL Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The USA wanted to prove to the world that it is ready for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
It also wanted to prove that they deserve to be host of the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup. Even though there were no goals, both teams were able to score an indirect victory.
Colombia demonstrated its mastery of the game and situation with their discipline and consistency as well as tenacity. They were able to evenly distribute the ball and the players in the field.
Regardless, Colombia should have struck gold but ended missing the goal attempts with multiple rebounds.
The USA should have learned its lessons from the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the last friendly game against Poland. While the team was able to play a decent game, they stuck to the same game plans of Bob Bradley.
While I consider the US Soccer Team to be one of the best in the world, it still has some problems that need to be dealt. The first problem is the team of Bradley as coach and Gulati as President.
Bob Bradley recently had his contract as coach of US Soccer renewed at a time when the team needs a new coach to take the team to new levels. What worked before the 2010 FIFA World Cup will not work after the event.
The US Soccer Team has to step to the plate and continue its progress. For that to occur, a new coach is in order as well as a new president. Bob Bradley should initiate a transition towards a new coach with new ideas and then step down.
Sunil Gulati may want to do the same thing as President of the US Soccer Federation. Both men should take this step if they love US Soccer.
If there is anything that came out of this game, the PPL Stadium in Philly was full of US Soccer supporters with the flags of the country, the US Soccer Team, and their favorite MLS Team.
It is hoped that someone from FIFA was able to watch the game and see the audience. It is also hoped that when they vote, they look at the audience instead of paying attention to the rants of the Asian Football Confederation President Mohammed Bin Hammam against the US Soccer Team.
