Laura Marie recorded the album «Drawn» in the year 2007 and the world has been listening to her afterwards. The songs and the album are impressive for an artists who has recorded her first album. The following are my understanding of the significance of the songs in «Drawn».
The first song «In Code» deals with trying to maintain a facade after a heartbreak, The truth is that the person who suffers fron the heartbreak would love to tell the truth even if it hurts. The song «In Code» appears to be melancholic in its melody thanks to the majestic interpretation by Laura Marie.
The second song «Too Deep» with its intense melody deals with people whose minds are not on Earth and tend to be the same towards others. The result can be a conflict of personality between the person who wants to simplify life and others who are out of touch with reality.
Laura Marie recorded «This Time» which had a melody and rhythm that reminds people of the pop music of the 1970’s. The song dealt with impatience when it came with love. The fourth song that dealt with last minute doubt when it came to love was «Ever Since».
The song «Ever Since» dealt with love that lasted only a short time and left the person thinking what went wrong. The questions that were posed [without an answer] was that whether what happened was «love, lust, or innocence«.
I saw the You Tube version of the song «Wait» interpreted by Laura Marie as well as the audio version. While «Wait» dealt with being cold when it comes to love, Laura Marie interpreted the song with a passion that proves that she is the singer songwriter for the 21st Century.
The song «Surface» challenges the person to come out of his or her shell in order to move forward. It is not easy to move from the comfort zone but it is necessary at times in order to face life. Laura Marie does a soulful rendition in «Surface» as well as other songs in this unforgettable album.
Laura Marie included the song «Hanging Around» in the «Drawn» album with an interpretation that is majestic but sorrowful. The song «Hanging Around» also deals with the mentality of «Loves Me or Loves Me Not» leaving the person hanging. It makes me feel terrible that there are people who leave their soul mates hanging when there are others who are lonely [and sad] who want one.
Laura Marie offers a beautiful interpretation of the song «On and On» which deals with a person who is so much in love that no one else will suffice. The song is positive and upbeat when it comes to giving and receiving love. The songs «Wait» and «On and On» appear to be the biggest hits in «Drawn».
My impression of the song «Kid» is that it appears to be a longer version of how to say goodbye. Laura Marie again sings the songs like she actually means goodbye.
The last song in the «Drawn» album «Good Enough» is another song with the potential to be a great hit. Laura Marie interprets «Good Enough» with her angelic voice accompanied by her equally majestic interpretation with the guitar,
The scenery in «Good Enough» [in my opinion] makes me think of a pair conversing with each other in a restaurant expressing their love in spite of imperfection. I like «Good Enough» since love between a man and woman can be possible when the imperfections are addressed as part of life instead of irritants.
Laura Marie with her first solo album «Drawn» quickly established herself as a Texas Singer Songwriter that will be a force to be reckoned with. Laura Marie will be remembered as one of the pioneers in the Texas Music scene for the 21st Century and beyond.
