Melissa Greener was on the famous program called «Troubador TX» with her music which reaches out to a world in need of true music. When I found about her concert in Miami Florida, I wanted to interview her. Ms. Greener was kind enough to take time off from her busy schedule to do an interview with the Alvarez-Galloso News Hour. The rest is history.
1. You are currently on tour in Miami Florida to promote your music. How are people reacting to your music?
– I love touring down in Florida and South Florida particularly. There’s so much culture and reverence for art. South Floridians really know how to listen and appreciate the flow of music, the juxtaposition of words in a line. They ‘get’ the expression of what a song communicates. That doesn’t happen everywhere. It’s a vibe thing, and you have it down here.
2. What was your inspiration behind the songs «Bullets To Bite» and «On My Way Back Home»?
– «Bullets To Bite» came from a time of emotional and spiritual growth in my life. I began to see the world (and myself) in a clearer way. The song is about coming to terms with neurosis and idiosyncrasies. Accepting them and looking beyond them, inside the cracks of them and taking the next step.
– «On My Way Back Home» was conceived in an airplane when I was making a trip back to see my family in my native town. It deals with the dysfunction of family dynamics, and working through the pain and confusion of those relationships. We lost our last family elder the same month that we gained a new generation of family. It made me stop and think about my place in the pack.
3. What is your message to the world?
– I have no ‘message to the world’ as such, but I hope that my words reach people. A lot of my songs talk about my condition, which is everyone’s condition. Dealing with pain, confusing roles in relationships, feelings of shame, inadequacy, fear, and love. I just hope I can say it in a way that makes people think, «Wow! She’s singing about me! That’s me! That’s how I feel!» From my own experiences and my own condition I’ve learned a lot about myself. Maybe the most important thing I’ve learned is that self-love is the answer to pretty much everything. It will give you confidence to do what you really love to do. And that in turn will make you a happier person. So, I guess a message from me to you would be, Love Yourself. There’s a lot of love in my music. I hope that comes across too.
I would like to thank Melissa Greener for the time spent with us. I would like to extend an invitation to anyone who wants to see Melissa Greener to visit her website for concert dates. Her music is highly recommended and is an alternative to the tired sounds that exists in the Big Apple and Hollywood.
