I would like to extend my congratulations to you for reporting that the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat tied 89-89 in the Eastern Conference Finals. The news was great for a comic story with a punch line. What was the punch line?

NO NBA MATCH ENDS OR HAS ENDED IN A TIE!!

The actual result was Miami Heat 93-91 Boston Celtics in Game Four of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. In other words, you made yourself the laughing stock of the whole world. This was the punch line.

In another era, a reporter or TV Station would have shrugged the whole thing and continue. In the digital age, what is reported remains in the internet forever.

Anyone can view the report over and over again and laugh like I am doing as this letter is being written. In other words, your reputation for seriousness is damaged forever unless you decide to dedicate to comic sports reporting like The Onion.

The lesson to be learned is to attempt to get your facts straight before reporting them. In fact, you should say where you receive your information the next time you do a sports story.

I would like to repeat my thanks for supplying the laughter at a time when the world is in need of more comedy and less drama.
