Vanessa Peters~ The Christmas We Hoped For

Vanessa Peters recorded ¨The Christmas We Hoped For¨ in the year 2011. The album since its release has become the Christmas album of the 21st Century.

The first song “All That I Want” deals with Christmas memories of the past such as ships on the harbor and the world aging. It also talks about other Christmas memories such as children enjoying themselves in the snow.

The second song “Please Come Home for Christmas” talks about pain and separation. Vanessa Peters sings the song which the emotion of a person who is a believer in the reunification of loved ones. The song tugged with personal emotions since there has been separation in life. The song has a great ending with the person reuniting with his or her loved one.

The classics such as “The Christmas Song”, “O Holy Night”, and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” are interpreted with the down to earth nature that endears Vanessa Peters to her fans. “The Christmas Song” makes a person feel that they are at home relaxing beside the fireplace with hot chocolate.

The other classic “O Holy Night” as interpreted by Vanessa Peters is convincing on the truth. The truth that Christmas is the celebration of Jesus Christ to save us from our sins. The visual concept of “O Holy Night” is the Baby Jesus with St. Joseph and the Virgin Mary holding him.

The visual concept of “O Holy Night” by Vanessa Peters continues with the shepherds and The Three Kings presenting the Baby Jesus with gifts of Gold, Myrrh, and Frankincense.  The third classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is convincing in telling people to forget their sadness and worries with the intention of enjoying Christmas.

The main theme of the CD “The Christmas We Hoped For” deals with contemporary scenes such as sending Christmas cards, family reunions, and the hope that the season and New Year will be better.

One of the most emotional songs in the album is “All I Want for Christmas is You”. The underwriter hears the song and it touches his heart, mind, and soul for one simple reason. What is worth all of the material good in the world if there is no one to love? There is nothing more important than the need for a companion in Christmas time and always.  It is more important since the awards collect dust and the accolades disappear with time.

Vanessa Peters does a great job in combining “What Child Is This” and “We Three Kings of Orient Are” in a jazz like rhythm. She does this with majesty and respect to the two Christmas classics.

The last four songs of the album: “White Christmas”, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “Winter Wonderland”, and “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” are the icing on an album which was beautifully crafted by an international artist from Texas whose name is Vanessa Peters.
