Laura Marie: The Season and Threadbare

Laura Marie recently released her two new albums «The Season» and «Threadbare». The internationally famous singer-songwriter fron Texas took time off from her busy schedule to talk with us about these two albums.

The rest is history concerning these latest jewels in the music interpreted by Laura Marie.

1. What inspired you to record an album with Jake Owen?
Jake and I have been friends and have performed together for years. I’ve always loved his style of arranging and wanted to work with him so, when he offered, I jumped at it.

2. «The Season» is one of my favorite albums from you. How long did it take for you to record it?

We started recording the additional tracks in November and pretty much finished in January so, really, just a couple of months with some adjustments in Feb.

3. What was the inspiration behind «The Season»?
The Season was inspired by many things changing in my life from the people who were in it to the way I looked at the world. Last year was a year of tremendous change.

4. «Babylon» is a very interesting song in «The Season». What was your inspiration behind the song?
The conflict in Syria inspired this song as well as the poetry of my dear friend Lahab Assef Al-Jundi.

5. «Dark Horse» is another favorite from «The Season». What inspired you to write it?
This song is truly about encouragement especially in the music industry. So many of us put so much into our art that often goes unrecognized for a very long time. It was kind of an encouraging love song to my fellow songwriters and to myself.

6. What inspired you to record «Threadbare»?
It was a chance to collaborate with Jake on a recording and that was something I knew I would enjoy doing.

7. The song «Everyone Gets Lonely» reminds me of loneliness. What inspired you to record it?
It is about loneliness. It’s about waking up in the middle of the night and not knowing exactly what your place is in the world, why you are where you are, if it means anything and how we need guidance.

8. How long did it take from planning to completion «Threadbare» and «The Season»?
It’s really hard to say. I’d say it started in March of last year though Unending was actually recorded quite some time before that and we just decided to use it in the project. So, a year or so.

9. Besides Jake Owen, were there any other participants?
Well, all of the musicians were absolutely amazing. Michael Ramos on keys and accordion, Chris Maresh on bass, Kyle Thompson on drums and percussion, Alex Marrero on percussion, Michael Bahan on percussion, Jesse Ebaugh on pedal steel, Andy Dollerson on keys, Jake on guitars, Brian Ramos who mixed the CD and Mark Hallman who mastered it. So, yeah, a lot of great participants and I’m grateful for every single one.

10. Where will you be performing your new albums?
Just about everywhere I can. Right now, there is a list of performances at lauramariemusic.com and more dates will be up soon. I’ll be in Texas for the most part but may be traveling soon.

I would like to thank Laura Marie for the time spent with us. It is always a pleasure and an honor to promote her music.

Our best wishes to our readers until next time.
