Boxing Legend Oscar De La Hoya, Los Camperos, and Sebastian De La Cruz to Join 600 Mariachi Performance at Halftime of Mexico vs. Panama Soccer Match on July 7

LOS ANGELES, July 3, 2013 – The Rose Bowl Stadium and The City of Pasadena are set to host a truly “Golden Evening” for the opening doubleheader of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup this Sunday, July 7. Los Camperos and «El Charro de Oro» Sebastian De La Cruz have joined the record-breaking attempt at halftime of the Mexico vs. Panama match, with legendary boxer “The Golden Boy” Oscar de la Hoya as guest of honor.

Los Camperos, one of Los Angeles’ most popular mariachi groups and Sebastian De La Cruz – singer of the U.S. National Anthem in San Antonio during the 2013 NBA Finals – will lead The City of Pasadena’s record-breaking attempt of 600 mariachis. Representatives from Pasadena, local cities, the Mexican and Panamanian consulates, and 10-time world champion in six weight classes and Gold Medal winner at the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona Oscar De La Hoya, will attend this historic event. De La Hoya, the pride of East Los Angeles, CA, is president of Golden Boy Promotions. GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® officials will also be on hand to validate the new record.

The current world record (set in 2010 by 555 mariachis in Tucson, AZ) will be challenged at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena–America’s Stadium and proud home of the annual Rose Bowl Game, UCLA Bruin Football and various high-profile events. Fans and media are invited to enjoy the highly-anticipated matchup between two of the region’s best national soccer teams as they vie for the bi-annual championship, as well as the incredible halftime mariachi performance. Los Camperos y “el Charro de Oro” Sebastián De La Cruz se han unido al intento de romper el récord en el medio tiempo del partido México vs Panamá, con el boxeador legendario, Oscar De La Hoya «The Golden Boy» como invitado de honor.

Los Camperos, uno de los grupos de mariachi más populares de Los Ángeles y Sebastián De La Cruz – cantante del Himno Nacional de EE.UU. en San Antonio durante las Finales de la NBA 2013 – liderarán el intento de récord de 600 mariachis en la Ciudad de Pasadena.
