Entere sobre el discurso del jugador de futbol NFL Oday Aboushi en una conferencia contra Israel. Aunque felicito a las personas por resaltar su orgullo étnico, raza, y religión, considero que los deportes deben separarse de la política y la religión.

Aboushi dio un discurso donde habla de la destrucción de una nación y un pueblo. Cuando un equipo de la NFL [incluyendo los NY Jets] permiten discursos de odio, ellos son participes en directo y/o indirecto.

Un ser humano cualquiera estaria pudriendo en la cárcel o en un instituto mental hacienda comentarios como lo de Sr. Aboushi. Los Jets de NY deben decir a Aboushi que el racismo, política, y religión no son parte del equipo como lo dicen a todos los jugadores.

It has come to my attention as an NFL fan that Oday Aboushi spoke at an Anti-Israel conference in the New York area. While respecting the rights of people to be proud of their ethnicity, there is a strong line between pride and hatred.

There is also a strong line between sports, religion, and politics since a mixture of the three is volatile. Aboushi violates the tenets of sports when it comes to injecting religion and politics while giving public conferences.

The same goes when Aboushi appears in places that are of a doubtful reputation. When Aboushi makes comments that potentially offend another group in a public setting, the NY Jets brand is damaged.

If another person were to make comments about destruction of a nation and its people, he or she would be arrested for threatening them. Yet, the NY Jets appear to tolerate this behavior instead of learning from the New England Patriots and the Aaron Hernandez case.

I do this out of love for sports in general especially the NFL. It is my hope that the NY Jets clarify this issue with Oday Aboushi as soon as possible before more damage comes to the former’s reputation.
