At a time when freedom in the American Continent is dimming, Maria Conchita Alonso decides to take a stand.
She has championed the cause of freedom for her two countries Cuba and Venezuela using her prestige of actress and singer. The response from North America and Europe has been indifference as well as rdicule.
The dictator of Venezuela Maduro has even removed her Venezuelan citizenship. In spite of these indignities (as well as those from a corrupt Hollywood, New York, and Washington DC) she continues to speak for the downtrodden and repressed people of her country and the world.
As Romania nears the silver jubillee of its liberation from Communist tyranny, it should support Cuba and Venezuela’s struggle to free itself from the same by naming Maria Conchita Alonso RRI Personality of the Year for 2014.
