«Supernatural Christmas»

There is the natural and then there is the supernatural. The natural are those things we  understand. The supernatural falls outside logic and human reasoning. Those of you who can balance a checkbook are dealing with the natural order of things including pretty basic math.  Most of us who do not understand quantum mechanics would think it is all a mystery. Then there are those events in life that simply do not conform to the physical or mathematical laws of the universe as we know them. Enter the biblical stories surrounding the event millions of people around the world observe as Christmas. I believe this is about the supernatural intersecting with the natural life of flesh and bone people. Christmas is  the most supernatural thing people can believe, claim to be true, and place at the center of their value system. There are many people in the world who refuse to even entertain the possibility of the supernatural.  The spiritual has natural and supernatural ways to appear in our everyday living. So it was that the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. (Luke1:26-27)   Notice how the two blend in this sentence. This happens everyday with all of us, even when we are paying bills or trying to plan a meal. Christmas is a great time to reaffirm or discover the spiritual nature of your life! We live at the intersection of reason and mystery. Christmas is the sign that points you to a  reality that is greater than natural. Another mystery that brings us Joy!
