Dear Amtrak:
I read the letter from your President and CEO Joe Boardman concerning the unfortunate events of Train 188 in Philadelphia, PA. My heart and sympathy goes out to the families of the victims.
While recognizing that Amtrak is doing everything within its power to remedy the situation, I prefer Amtrak over a domestic airline while traveling within America. During the year 2013, I went from Florida to Connecticut and back via the Silver Star and Northeast Regional.
The service was great with comfortable chairs that functioned as beds for the long nights sleep. I actually slept 13 hours by sleeping in Jacksonville Florida and waking up in North Carolina.
The food in the diner was excellent with a Chicken served with Red Wine Sauce and Rice Pilaf. The coffee was excellent and the employees went out of their way to help the passengers in their chairs and in the diner.
Amtrak is a great way to see America and save money by leaving the driving to them. It is hoped that Amtrak receives the support it deserves for its exemplary service and for being an institution in America that works.
Thank you.
