Standing Rock es el sitio de protestas de los indigenas en Dakota del Norte (EEUU) ( y sus aluados) contra aquellos (gobierno estatal – federal y compania de petroleo) con intenciones de robarle su tierra con motivo para construir tuberias que llevaria petroleo recien descubierto hacia Illinois y los EEUU. La protesta se trata es contra una posible contaninacion ambiental debido a la construccion.

Las companias de petroleo y los gobiernos niegan las acusaciones de contaminacion ambiental  y tomaron medidas represivas contra los manifestantes. 

Hay artistas declarando su solidaridad con el movimiento Standing Rock o NO DAPL (Dakota Access Pipeline) atraves del CD Songs for Standing Rock.
