The Monkees : Why They Deserve To Be In The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame [RCAG]

Every year, the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame meets in Cleveland, Ohio to induct a new member and the Monkees are bypassed as usual. It is unfair that this prolific group is not even considered secondary to [in my opinion] being considered a rock group made for television series.

It is as though that the authorities of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame consider The Monkees their version of The Three Stooges. The reality is another one given that they are musical geniuses in their own right together or separate during their five decades of existence.

The fact that the remaining three Monkees [except Davy Jones who died] were able to gather together and record an album of their style of music called «Good Times«. The album proved to be durable music wise given its originality at a time when today’s music is just simply mediocre.

The Monkees were able to [during their existence] take control of their music and creativity and expand it with songs such as «Daydream Believer», «I’m A Believer» and «Valerie». The film «Hand» was another stroke of genius in which the group ventured into an adventure film that morphed into a critique of society which applies today.

Peter Tork [who was supposedly the less serious of the Monkees] is actually a serious musician who is one of the vanguards of Blues and Americana Folk Music. He recorded albums with his band Shoe Suede Blues which have received critical acclaim in these genre.

Who can ever forget the Monkees interpreting the Spanish Christmas Carol «Riu Riu Chiu» which impressed me more in their diverse genius and the ability to interpret a timeless classic. I challenge my readers to write to the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame and get the Monkees inducted.
