I was shocked to read the falsehoods that have circulated about Formula 1. Before your vote next week, I’d like to help you separate fact from fiction:

Fiction: even though it is just one weekend of racing, Formula 1 cars create enough noise pollution to cause deafness nearby areas.

Fact: Architectural acoustics experts have stated that “residents will not be exposed to ‘extreme’ or ‘damaging’ levels of sound in their homes,” as has been suggested by race opponents.

In fact, many friends of mine have attended Formula 1 races, and I am not aware of anybody that came home deaf or deathly ill.

I hope you will vote on the side of the facts next week and sustain Mayor Gimenez’s veto.
