“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”

Charles Dickens, «A Tale of Two Cities».

We are in the midst of a division between two political parties and their partisans, that is on the verge of destroying our over 230 years of a successful Constitutional Republic.    Dickens famous quote comes to mind as we, because or in spite of Trump, are enjoying what could be described as the best of times.

Our economy is the greatest it has been in decades, we have full employment, wages are rising, and the minorities, blacks, Hispanic, women, and the working class are in the forefront of the recovery.    Even after early prognostications by the MSM “experts” of gloom and doom, our markets have established record highs, and our GDP growth has been better than expected and sustained.

It is hard to govern when the opposition is determined to block your ideas in every instance, even to the extent not to join in efforts that they have espoused in the past.    The plight of the DACA children, and the sorely needed immigration reform, as well as financing for infrastructure were some of many issues that with some flexibility could have been achieved in a bipartisan way.

Our Nation is at peace, recovering the respect (fear) that until the last administration had, Islamic terrorists groups have been decimated, no longer holding territories, North Korea even maintaining their bellicose rhetoric have stopped testing nuclear bombs and long range missiles, and Iran, a sworn enemy, is facing harsh penalties and no longer holds the nuclear free card that the prior pact would have allowed in 4 years.

As we have cemented our relationship with Israel, we have also been joined by new partners in the region with Saudi Arabia and other gulf states that with Jordan and Egypt formed a pro-America bloc.    Cuba and his cadre of tyrannical regimes like Venezuela are been confronted as never before with signs of more to come.    Then in an extremely risky move our past trades were challenged, but so far have had positive results with Mexico, Canada, Japan, South Korea and China.

It is also the worst of times, not only our political system is under attack, but our culture, religious beliefs, our family structure, our tradition of hard work and individual rights (including free speech) are been challenged by what can only be described as fascist tactics, like censoring our language, literature, and artistic expression bulwarks of our tradition.

Even who and how we meet with what the opposition categorizes as enemies (like our President) has been attacked by fanatics, with the support of a biased media.    It has come to a point that in order to hurt the president, the Queen Pelosi- led democrats sided with the extremist Ayatollahs in Iran against the suffering citizens, and a well known murderer was hailed as a hero.

Not only Pelosi assumes that the Congress (the minor chamber of the legislature) can remove a freely elected president, but feels free to falsely interpret the Constitution, use the rarely used impeachment process (meant to be a last option), wants to change our electoral college, and thinks the Senate (the major chamber) has to obey her mandates.

Today as our president signed the important trade deal with China, the Queen and her subjects wasted everyone’s time by accusing Trump of ridiculous charges, not even close to High crimes and Misdemeanors, exactly what Hamilton was afraid might happen!

SAD!
