The Pete Hegseth Circus

I don’t know if some of you watched today’s Senate hearing for the confirmation of Trump’s selection of Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense. As we all know, going into this hearing Pete’s nomination has been, probably, [the] most controversial of all. Ever since the news broke out of his appointment, there has been a wave of defamations, libels, and slanders in the court of public opinion.
Pete was accused of behaviors dealing with past misconduct relative but not limited to sexual abuse with his ex-wives, alcoholism, even financial irresponsibility, to mention a few. Vis-à-vis, Donald Trump has consistently eulogized Hegseth for his service to the nation while being commissioned as an infantry officer in the Army National Guard, deployed to Afghanistan, Iran, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. His military awards include two Bronze Stars and two Army Commendation Medals.
Hegseth, a political commentator for Fox News and weekend co-host of Fox and Friends from 2017 to 2024 did his undergraduate studies at Princeton University and later received a master’s in public policy from Harvard University. He also worked for the ill-fated bank Bear Stearns after college before leaving to serve in the military.
Notwithstanding Pete’s outstanding resume and qualifications, during today’s hearing he was grilled by the ever so known mantra of liberal democrat Senators, who, outright disqualified him for the job, based on a mountain of alleged personality and character mishaps, which Hegseth continued to defend and construe as merely an irresponsible, anonymous, and unfounded crusade aimed at attacking his character, much like what Donald Trump has suffered in the last four years.
I watched the hearing from beginning to end, and, once again, I thought this was nothing short than one more of those political spectacles that we all have come to know so well, whereby the democrats’ evilness, hypocrisy, and double standards all come out, live and in color, for all the nation to watch. The same style, the same characteristics as those we all saw during the much-publicized House Jan. 6 Committee kangaroo court co-sponsored by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss), and former Rep. from Wyoming, Liz Cheney.
Most all democrats in today’s hearing chose to personally attack Hegseth, rather than question him. [The] most disgusting, the most cynical, and the most belligerent attack came from Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va), who grilled Pete over alleged incidents of infidelity and public drunkenness. It was precisely during Kaine’s attack when I could not help thinking of words in the Bible’s “John 8:7”, when Jesus says to the Pharisees: “let he who is without sin cast the first stone” – referring to righteousness and not having a right to pass judgement on others.
Right after Kaine’s cowardly attack on Hegseth I was proud to see how Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin form Oklahoma as he blasted Kaine for the latter’s allegations to Pete’s alcohol abuse and cheating on his wife making him ineligible to be Secretary of Defense. Among other things Kaine referred to Pete showing up drunk to his job, to which Mullin replied, “How many senators have shown up drunk to vote at night? “And, have you guys [democrats] asked them to step down? Mullin went on to ask: “How many senators got a divorce for cheating on their wives? Have you asked them to step down? Mullin asked of those sitting on the democratic side of the aisle.
Bottom line, I thought Pete did a masterful job today of staying calm, cool, and collected despite a flurry of personal attacks which would have made even the most level-headed amongst us lose our cool. I, personally, would have probably told them all to go to hell, get up and left. Then again, I could never be considered for Secretary of Defense, as I would probably bring the country into war on my first day in office – albeit a war against all the Left political machinery such as that we saw today going after a man, who, besides being human, and besides his possible humanly flaws, common to most average men, happens to be someone whose principal values are shared by our elected Commander in Chief, Donald Trump, to wit, the long overdue cleansing our Armed Forces of a woke culture that democrats have irresponsibly placed as a priority above the nation’s most needed security interests.
I am confident that Pete Hegseth, despite it all, despite and/or in spite of today’s democrats’ slurring crusade, will be confirmed by a simple majority who shares Donald Trump’s choice for this very important post. In closing, to all the righteous democrats that participated in today’s hearing, may I politely remind them all, that it was not too long ago when there was a Democrat President who cheated on his wife while in office; one who hypocritically dared deny his culpability on National T.V. I don’t recall any righteous democrats asking that President to step down, or did they?
