The Not So Super Bowl

Well, if you are one of the 123 million people, who, like me watched yesterday’s Super Bowl I think you will agree with me in the fact that this was certainly not so Super as the name implies.
There were several records set by yesterday’s final game of the season. First, this was, by far, [the] most over-billed game in Super Bowl history. Historically, as we all know, most Super Bowls never live up to the expectations that we all built during the 18-week season. That said, however, this one between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, took the price for being one of [the] most lopsided, which translates into boring games ever, bar none.
As a Hardrock betting fan that I am, I lost my bet on Kansas, with a parlay of the “Over 48 points.” But that is fine. Ironically, I kept telling myself that Philadelphia was a far better team than Kansas. Throughout the season, I could not help but notice that the Kansas defense was not as great as they made it out to be. I noticed there were several games that Kansas won exclusively as their QB Patrick Mahomes, always found a way to come back and win games. So, in my best judgement going into the game, I thought, you just do not bet against Mahomes. It did not make sense. Little did I know that my original instincts were right.
I was not so disappointed at the fact that I lost my bet, as I was about how Kansas lost. I mean they got killed. The game was boring – the most boring game of this past season. Nothing new, right? And, I got to tell you friends, to add insult to injury, I thought this year’s half-time show, must have been the absolute worst ever. How can anyone in its right mind have chosen this petty rapper to be the star of the show? I, personally, would pay not to see a show like that even if my life depended on it.
Case you missed it, the show had this unknown rapper, Kendrick Lamar, who went on for what seemed hours on end, slurring an unintelligible, inarticulate, and incoherent tirade, surrounded by a circus of Black men and women who looked like they had come from some African dancing tribe. My God, this was an insult to music, an insult to dancing, an insult to art. If this is what the NFL considers good entertainment compatible to the hype of the moment, I guess, I will strongly consider not watching any more Super Bowls in the future. Frankly, I got better things to do with my Sunday afternoon than this crap.
Notwithstanding all the disappointments surrounding this event yesterday, kudos and congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles for a great season and a great game. My last comment, hey, if there was a lesson to be learned from yesterday’ game is that, when it comes to football predictions, no one really knows diddly squat. Many of the so-called experts, connoisseurs, and authorities had the game very close and many even saying that Kansas was a sure bet to win because of Mahomes. Only goes to tell you how even these experts can miss the ball. Maybe it is time for all of the experts to realize that it takes more than a good QB to win this game. Cheers everyone!
