Beware of your Cuban American Friends

Hi there friends. In the comments section of my last article “The Oval Office Prize Fight”, my lifetime friend Fifi Smith a/k/a Fifi Peyeya, writes to me making a comment which has been one of those topics that hits close to home -one which I thought warranted my sharing with you all today. I told Fifi I would author a full article about it as, otherwise, anything less might be shortchanging you on this highly controversial subject.
In her comment, Fifi asks why, or how come that some of our fellow Cubans in Miami are filled with so much political hatred to where lifetime friendships have been severed. Fifi was referring, of course, to Cuban American democrats in Miami. And take my word, there are quite a few. Matter of fact, there may even be some in our Republican Party who also despise Trump.
Curiously, Fifi makes mention of some of the “Cubans” that go as far as sacrificing lifetime friendships all based on ideological rifts. Again, curiously, funny that she mentions this, as this is something that I have personally experienced many times in the past. I have had quite a few lifetimes close friendships which have gone to the wayside, put aside, discarded because of our divergent ideologies. Mind you, some of these friendships made a complete turnaround to where, today, we are bitter enemies.
While I have addressed this issue many times in the past, as a courtesy to Fifi, I will do it once again. Let me preface my thoughts by stating that, it is completely incomprehensible to me that anyone in our generation of Cuban exiles, anyone from the “baby boomers” [born 1946 to 1964], not a single one of us from that cohort should favor today’s Democratic Party, or its ideologies – a Party, a culture which acquiescently promotes those Marxist / Communists doctrines, which are [the] very reason for which our parents and us lost our precious island – shame on all of them.
Then again, [the] only explanation I can think for such aberration is, there are many of us, many Cuban Americans, which are worthless. The very reason Cuba gave birth to a monster like Fidel Castro. Let us face it friends, yes, there is a lot to be proud of in our heritage, but there is a lot to be ashamed of as well and, like they say, the proof is in the pudding. Our fickleness as a culture, is [the] only reason that Castro succeeded and the reason that 66 years have gone by and were never able to take back our island.
To be clear, I could not be prouder of my Cuban heritage and of my lineage, and all throughout my life, I have defended, honored, and pay tribute to this heritage with anyone outside our culture. That said, however, there is, we must admit, a lot of “dirty laundry,” that we keep in our Cuban American closet. I have had some who I once called friends, sell their soul to the devil for money, much like Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus in exchange for thirty pieces of silver.
I could, if I wanted to, give you a detailed list of many of these Judases, who had no problem kissing ass of high-end Democrats, on the hope that they would economically benefit. Again, such fickleness is not foreign to many of those who, like Fifi says, are ready, willing, and able to dispose of a lifetime friendship in a heartbeat.
Then there are others, who, don’t do it for money, but, they are helpless, stupid, ideologues who have been brainwashed by a superb democrat indoctrination machine, which, afflict their minds with a “short-memory” syndrome to where, Cuba’s history, the perils brought upon us by a Communist Revolution, our parents suffering are all but a thing of the past to them, including but not limited to the “friendships” as mentioned by Fifi. I am talking about those who do not even remember where they came from. Cuba is all but a forgotten topic for the history books – nothing to do with them.
In ending, I will say this much, any decent Cuban American from our generation should be thankful to Donald Trump, despite or in spite of whatever human flaws he or she finds in him. If anything, we, Cuban Americans, of all people, should be especially thankful, especially grateful, especially indebted, especially beholden to Donald Trump as he and his Party represent all that we Cuban Americans should all fight for. Last, to my friend Fifi, I say, do not let yourself be afflicted by any friends that are willing to forsake your friendship to defend the very same ideology that destroyed our nation. You are better off without them. If they were willing to forsake your friendship, they were not truly your friends to begin with. Let them all rot in their misery as we “make America great again.”
