Miami Football – Embarrasing!

After watching the absolute and total embarrassing loss of the Miami Hurricanes’ to the Louisville Cardinals on Friday night, it dawned on me that, actually, I could make a lot of money by selling the historical “Kool-Aid”, that all Miami football fans have been trained to drink before football season starts.
You know what I mean, Mario Cristobal is the best recruiting coach in the nation; the hurricanes have a star quarterback in Carson Beck; Miami has one of [the] best defenses in the nation – all contributing to placing Miami as the No. 2 ranked team in the nation. Hello! If you happened to watch the Louisville game, and, if you happen to be honest, you could readily tell that none, absolutely none of the brouhaha, the fanfare, the commotion resembles the reality that we all witnessed last Friday.
The reality is that Miami should never be ranked as the No. 2 team in the nation – 20 maybe; maybe even more? The reality is that Carson Beck is not the star QB that everyone wants him to be. A good QB does not throw 4 interceptions in a critical game such as this kid did. Matter of fact, throughout the entire season, he comes across as hesitant, insecure, not-in-control, ever fearful. None of the qualities needed for a QB to excel the way he was expected – spare me.
And, by the way, as bad as Beck looked, cannot really put all the blame on him. Notably, our defense was all but MIA [missing-in-action]. Right off the bat, on the very first drive, Louisville absolutely manhandled Miami, running down the field any way they wanted whereas Miami just could not stop them. By the way, all credit to Louisville. I thought they played a great game and you cannot take that away.
And, last but not least, what about Cristobal. Well, with all due respects, like they say, that’s where the buck stops, so…I have come to the conclusion that this guy just does not have what it takes – that simple. His record speaks for itself, in the 3 years that he has been coach of the Hurricane, his records is 22 wins and 16 losses. Last year, he managed to end up losing 3 games, taking us out of contention for any national championship. Ditto this year with Friday’s loss. Besides all else, the team’s continued penalties just tells me that Cristobal somewhat does not have complete handle of his players. I could go on an on but, not going to waste my time.
So, if the Hurricanes are underperforming, you would hope that our only other football franchise, the Miami Dolphins would save face, then again, the situation with the Dolphins is even worse. The Dolphins 1 and 5 start is probably one of the worst in the team’s history. Then again, if we are all honest, and, if you really think about it, this franchise has been a total embarrassment over the last twenty years.
Sorry, but I must admit I was one of the many that were spoiled by Don Shula and the “Undefeated” season that still stands today. To watch Dolphins’ coach Mike McDaniel on the sidelines, compared to Don Shula is sacrilegious. Man [McDaniel] is “nerdy” – all I see is this guy glued to a printed form, rarely taking his eyes off the form to even watch what is going on the field. I see him in these funny-looking grey sweatpants and headphones and I wonder if this guy can even coach a Little League football team. I don’t remember ever watching any of the old great coaches, Shula, Lombardi, any of them needing headphones, printed forms and all these modern-day gadgetry.
Anyways, in my humble opinion, if the Miami Dolphins are ever going to come back to its glory days, maybe it is time for a complete and total makeup. And, when I say complete and total makeup, I mean just that. I think that Tua Tagovailoa is overdue to retire – damage goods, obsolete. I think that maybe it is even time for owner Stephen Ross to sell the franchise. Spare me the argument, please, of how much money he has been willing to spend.
Hey, let’s not lose track of the truth here, Ross has already made billions from this franchise. The fact that Ross has kept Chris Grier as General Manager of the Dolphins since 2016, speaks volumes. Grier will go down in the Dolphins’ history books, probably, as their worse GM ever. The fact alone that Grier hired Brian Flores alone, should have been enough for Ross to get rid of him.
I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of every year over the past twenty years listening to the same B.S. of “this year will be year.” Then again, many Miami fans continue drinking the “Kool-Aid” believing that “this year will be the year”. So…like I said before, I might start thinking of selling the “Kool-Aid” as I believe I could be well ahead of the game, the disappointments and the continued embarrassment of both our franchises.
