In your article «2026 World Cup Boycott? German Soccer Executive Is Calling For Talks», you stated «There has been a boycott of the World Cup before. In 1980, the United States boycotted the Olympics in the Soviét Union after the country invaded Afghanistan» 

This was the 1980 Summer Olympics not the World Cup [held in 1978 and 1982].

Actually, Uruguay boycotted the 1934 World Cup. England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland joined the boycott. 

Turkey boycotted [the World Cup] in 1950 and the USSR boycotted in 1974.
