The State of the Union Address – Wow!

Wow! This is [the] one word that best summarizes, describes President Trump’s State of the Union address last night. I do not say that lightly folks. Since 1960 when I first sat foot in this country, there have been 100 State of the Union addresses, and, I dare say, maybe I have not heard them all, but I have heard most of them and, I got to say, last night’s address has to be, by far, [the] absolute best I have ever seen in my lifetime – par for the course with everything that Donald Trump does.
A State of the Union address, is, at the end of the day, just another political speech, isn’t it not? What separates the Union address from other political speeches is the fact that customarily everyone in the political geosphere is in attendance, both Houses of Congress, the Justices of the Supreme Court, top military officials, everyone and anyone that has something to do with top layers of our government are in attendance to hear the President of the United States tell us all and the world how we are doing as a nation, as a country – don’t get any more relevant than that, I should say, does it not?
The typical metrics for evaluating a speech include but are not limited to issues such as delivery and mechanics, structure and content, audience engagement and interaction, impact, and purpose, to mention a few. Well, I thought last night’s speech, simply said, excelled in any and all of whatever metrics you want to use to evaluate a speech. I don’t know about you, I personally was emotionally overwhelmed many times throughout it all as tears came down my eyes while, for the first time in a long time, Donald Trump evoked my deepest sentiments of patriotism, of being proud to be an American – the nation that I adopted as my homeland to replace my stolen Cuban heritage.
Last night, I could literally see, touch, and feel patriotism at its best. Last night was a snapshot of what the United States of America is and has been all about for the last 250 years. Last night was also a snapshot of where we have come to be as a nation in which one of the Parties totally departed from what has made this nation the great nation it is. A Party that has gone astray with a visceral hate only found in Communist nations. Last night, thank God, the world was able to see, live and in color, what un-Americanism is all about, as Democrats refused to either stand up or applaud when asked to reaffirm “the first duty of the American government to protect its citizens, not illegal aliens.”
Democrats refused to stand up or applaud for grieving families of innocent American women and children murdered by criminal aliens, including the mother of Iryna Zarutska, a North Carolina woman savagely killed on public transit by an illegal alien monster. Besides all the good that Donald Trump has done for the nation, ironically, during last night’s address, the nation, the world, were all able to see the stark differences between what a Constitutional Democratic Republic and what a Marxist Socialist Communist nation are all about. We were able to see in no uncertain terms the democrat’s radical platform of un-American objectives all meant to complete Barack Obama’s commitment to transforming the nation.
Then again, looking at last night from the glass half full instead of half empty vantage point, there were moments such as the entrance of the U.S. Winter Olympics gold medal winning Hockey team, which showed that good side of Americanism that our forefathers longed for when they first signed on our Declaration of Independence.
I was particularly moved when Trump bestowed the Congressional Medal of Honor to Army Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover, who was badly hit in his leg and hip as he valiantly piloted the helicopter that saved the lives of many American soldiers assigned to the life-threatening mission of capturing and bringing to justice Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro. The whole house came down with a forever round of applause for Officer Slover’s heroism, all the while as he quietly stood up with a walker reminding all watching of the wounds for which he was given the Medal of Honor.
Another very moving moment in last night’s address was when President Trump honored two National Guard members who were shot near the White House. President honored Sarah Beckstrom who died to defend the capitol, meantime, alongside Beckstrom, Staff Sgt., Andrew Wolfe, survived a gunshot wound to his head and smiled, next to his mother, as Trump told the story that she, the mother, assured him that Andrew would survive while doctors had literally given up on him.
Again, over and over, the night was full of emotionally charged moments which only served to show the stark contrast between the Donald Trump’s presidency as compared to the democrat’s failed attempt of transforming us into a full-blown Marxist State, which has been long in the makings by a Democratic Party that symbolizes and represents everything that is opposing to what our country was meant to be. Trump’s uniquely lengthy delivery, establishing one of the longest State of the Union addresses ever, was relative to his unprecedented successes, which he methodically detailed in ways that even forced some of the recalcitrant democrats to stand up and applaud, that, as their only alternative considering that, not doing so, would be politically suicidal by showing the world their total lack of care for nation and country.
Bottom line friends, this was a majestic speech by a majestic president for whom every decent American, every decent country-loving American, every conservative, should be thankful and proud of. For a while there, I thought there was no way out of the prevailing track of gloom and disaster on which our nation was rapidly headed under the democrat’s rule. For a while, I thought Barck Obama’s infamous commitment of transformation the nation was an inevitable end to the world’s last bastion of freedom. For a while, I was sorry for the future of this great nation, for our children and grandchildren, as, surely enough, they were going to inherit a nation in disarray; a nation headed to an inevitable Armageddon.
After watching last night’s State of the Union address, I cannot help but feel a tremendous sense of relief to know that Donald J. Trump has, singlehandedly, reversed the course where the United States was headed. Even more, he has, singlehandedly, changed the course of the entire world, of mankind, for which we all ought to be thankful. Kudos to you Donald Trump, congratulations on making it possible for this nation getting back on track; on the same heading and direction and moral compass which our forefathers meant us to be headed when it all started 250 years ago. Like you said, your presidency landmarks the beginning of a “Golden Age” for America and Americans. We thank you Donald Trump for what you have done for each one of us. Long live Donald Trump, God save us and God save the United States of America.
