TOMESCU SHINES WHILE RADCLIFFE DECLINES!!!

While watching the Women’s Marathon of the Beijing Olympics on CCTV live from Beijing China [as well as listening to it at CRI English], I was witnessing history as well as the sites in Beijing such as Tiananmen Square, The War Memorial, and the Great Hall of the People in order to continue with life the memories of my visit to China. The history in the making was the victory of Constantina Dila Tomescu of Romania. Romania received its first victory in the Women’s Marathon while Paula Radcliffe [who has yet to win an Olympic Medal] fell behind and in agony.

In spite of the title of my article, I do not mean any ill will against Paula Radcliffe. In fact, I feel sorry for Paula Radcliffe for having finished last and that she had to limp secondary to a stress fracture. It was evident that she was in agony as anyone who has suffered a stress fracture in the lower extremities could attest to. The fact that Paula Radcliffe was able to run the Women’s Marathon in spite of the pain and agony is proof of her bravery and fortitude. Regardless, Paula Radcliffe deserves a gold medal for effort. She deserves the praise of all who are listening to the Olympics on the Internet and Radio as well as watching it on Television and the Internet.

In order to talk about Constantina Dila Tomescu and her victory, it is important to talk about her life and career. Constantina Dila Tomescu was born on the Twenty Third of January 1970 in Turburea, Gorj County in Romania. She currently lives in Boulder, Colorado with her trainer and husband Valeriu Tomescu. Her achievements in Marathon Running has been one of admiration and is deserving of a film about achievement.

She has participated in the Chicago Marathon, World Championships, European Championships, World Half Marathon Championships, London Marathon, and 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. She is the recipient of the Gold Medal in the Chicago Marathon [the year 2004], the World Half Marathon Championships at Edmonton in Canada [in the year 2005], and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Constantina Dila Tomescu is also the recipient of the Bronze Medal of the World Half Marathon Championship [in the year 2004], the World Championships [in the year 2005], and the London Marathon [in the year 2007]. She has won the Silver Medal in the World Road Running Championships in the year 2006.

I would like to extend my best wishes to Constantina Dita Tomescu, her family, and the people of Romania for their first ever Victory in the Women’s Marathon.
