Beijing Olympics 2008: The Greatest

The 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics have provided great competition as well as entertainment. The 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics are the Olympics that surpassed previous Olympics in the Twentieth Century and will be the cornerstone for all Olympic Events after 2008. The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, 2012 London Summer Olympics, and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics will have difficulty surpassing the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics in Competition.

In spite of some reverses, the United States of America has 93 medals in total. The USA has 28 Gold Medals, 34 Silver Medals, and 31 Bronze Medals. This was according to the CRI English Website which reveals the countries and medals won as of the 21st of August 2008 at 2200 Hours. Michael Phelps has been the revelation of the Beijing Summer Olympics 2008 as well as the 21st Century with his Eight Olympic Medals. At the present time, he has either tied or surpassed the number of Olympic Gold Medals in a row by Mark Spitzer in the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics. The United States of America has also received great news when it won the Gold Medals in the 400 meter race. Even the United States of America defeated Russia in Women’s Basketball 67 to 52 in order to classify for the finals and that sport. The US Women’s Basketball Team may be one step away from a fourth consecutive Olympic Gold Medal. The game between the USA and Russia was great in competition with the USA coming from behind to equalize and then win the Basketball Game. While I am glad that the USA won, I am also glad that Becky Hammon was able to realize her dream of playing Olympic Basketball. Even if Becky Hammon does not win a medal for Russia and was unable to play for the USA, Becky Hammon has my support as a True American for following her dreams of playing Olympic Basketball. At the present time, the United States Women’s Soccer Team and Brazil have not scored at halftime.

The United States of America is not the only country with a fierce competitive spirit. Russia and Belarus are in the lead in the first day of Rhythmic Gymnastic Qualifications. The Russian Federation has won at the present time: 16 Gold Medals, 16 Silver Medals, and 19 Bronze Medals to make a total of 51 Olympic Medals. Russia is in third place. Belarus has two gold medals, three silver medals, and eight bronze medals to make a total of thirteen Olympic Medals won.

Portugal has even shown great competition with Nelson Evora flying 17.67 meters in order to win Olympic men’s triple jump Gold medal followed by Philips of Great Britain receiving the Silver Medal with 17.62 meters and Sands of the Bahamas receiving the Bronze Medal with 17.59 meters.

China has been one of the greatest recipients of Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals regardless of the fact that they are the host. Chen Ruolin, Wu Jingyu, He Chong, He Wenna, He Kexin, Guo Jingjing, Lin Dan, Zhang Xiangxiang, Liu Zige, and Cao Lei have been part of those who have won medals for the People’s Republic of China. I would like to congratulate all of the athletes of the People’s Republic of China for their superb performance regardless of whether they won an Olympic Medal or not. At the same time, The People’s Republic of China has won the Gold Medal in producing a Green Olympics in which pollution and smog is almost non existent. The People’s Republic of China has won the Gold Medal in producing a High Technology Olympics in which there were family friendly computers, automatic kitchens, washer that worked without water as well as Automatic Teller Machines that withdrew money or converted them to its denominations. The People’s Republic of China also earned the Gold Medal for a Friendly Olympics with people interested in helping tourists and making sure that the Consitution of the Olympics which includes fair play is adhered to.

We are almost at the end of the greatest competition in the 21st Century called the Beijing Summer Olympics of 2008. I am feeling sad that the games are almost over and that the torch will be passed to London. While I am happy that London will host the 2012 Olympics, the 2008 Beijing Olympics will be the best in competition that will not be surpassed.
