Nil Lara is a Singer Songwriter of the Cuban and American Tradition whose style goes from the music of the late Cuban Composer, Singer, Band Leader Beny More to the American Singer Songwriter Bob Dylan. Nil Lara is a sound that has defied conventional music and the musical conglomerates who dominate the musical world with their creations. In order to know more about Nil Lara, it is important that his life, career, and music is reviewed.
Nil Lara was born in New Jersey to Cuban Parents and spent his time between New Jersey, Florida, and Venezuela. It is also his residence in these three places that were also to influence his music. Nil Lara started his career in the mid 1990’s in the University of Miami [Florida] singing in the radio station WVUM. Nil Lara was later to sign a contract with Capitol Records [Metro Blue Division] to record his first album with the title «Nil Lara». Later in life, he was to establish Beluga Blue Records and promote his music via live concerts in order to attract a wide audience. While writing about the life of one of the greatest singer songwriters in the late 20th Century and 21st Century, I have come across some of his music and decided to supply my interpretation of the meaning of what Nil Lara was conveying.
«Sinking In Your Senses» is a song that calles to the attention of a person telling his or her significant half about love and how the significant other does not appreciate his or her love. It is a lively song with verses that calls to attention the need for real love. It reminds me of some of the psychedelic music of the 1960’s.
«Never Listen» is a lively song that evokes the fact of some people not paying atention to what their significant other says. While the verses have the meaning, the lively song reminds me of the trips I would take from Miami to Key West Florida. It is lively and reminds me of a jamming moment in rock.
«Money Makes The Monkey Dance» is a song about corrupt politicians and business people in all spheres of industry. It is a song that I have heard at times and have felt the reality of what is happening in America.
«Fighting For My Love» reminds me of the time I have had to find love and maintain love until my wife Marlene came along. «How Was I To Know» was a song of heartbreak and desolation after the loss of a loved one through a breakup.
«My First Child» is a song that evokes seeing ones child being born, the person taking care of the child until he or she is fully grown and married. I love the song because of its pro family stance. The bad part is I have a daughter who is going to become a teenager soon and the song leaves me depressed since it states a reality. The person has a child, the person takes care of the child, then the child grows and has his or her family.
«Baby» is another song that evokes a rock jam and makes one feels good inside.
«Baro» also talks about life and the struggles of life. «Bleeding» deals with breakups and put downs. «I Will Be Free» evokes the universal desire for freedom in all spheres without dictatorships and censorships. I recommend «I Will Be Free» for those who want freedom since freedom has to be achieved in the mind before actually reaching the physical aspect of freedom.
«Vida Mas Simple» is a bolero in the style of Jose Feliciano which evokes a simpler place in life and time. It is a song that talks about family, respect, friendship, and tolerance with nostalgia for a time when money was not the centre of people’s lives. «Crawl» and «Mama’s Chant» were two other songs from Nil Lara that evokes a get together between family and friends.
Nil Lara will be in a concert in a place called The Tavern in Coral Gables Florida in November 2008. I hope to go [again] to his concert if not this time, some time in the near or distant future. His concerts are like Woodstock at night with families getting together and enjoying the music of this great singer songwriter.
Nil Lara is the Real Deal when it comes to Contemporary Rock Music and I hope that he will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
