On the 10th of June 2009, Houston Dynamos played against Chivas USA. It was expected that Chivas USA would defeat Houston given its first place in the Western Conference and being one of the best teams during the current season.
It was not to be since during the game, both teams started to compete for posession of the game and ball. Chivas USA attempted to resist but its goalkeeper was unable to block the direct kick by Holden which lead to the first and only goal of the game during the first half.
Holden with this only goal is close to or may have reached the same level of goals for 2009 as Brian Ching. Regardless, the game was intense as Chivas USA tried to score an equalizer and Houston was blocking every attempt.
In the last minutes, Houston attempted to stall for time and the game was finished. Houston started with 0-1-2 in the current MLS Season and are now 7-2-3. Houston currently has an unbeaten streak of nine games 7-0-2 and there is the possibility that the Western Conference may receive a surprise.
What happened in this game is the proof that nothing in sports especially football [soccer] is written in stone.
