I have decided to reissue an article previously written for Merinews since we should be concentrating on celebrities and artists that have given back to their community.
AT A time when there are images of artists who give little or nothing at all for their community, there are artists who have given more than just music and acting. The US Mainstream Media prefers to concentrate on scandals instead of the good deeds of artists. If the artists are US Latins, the publicity is close to nothing since the US Mainstream Media marginalizes US Latin artists regardless of whether they were born in the USA or Latin America.
After arriving at these conclusions, I have decided to promote US Latin Artists who have given back to their community in the United States of America. Many times, it is the artist and other professionals who give so much to their country without asking anything in return. These people deserve all of the publicity in the world.
One of the greatest examples of how the US Latin Artists have given back to the community has been Lorenzo Antonio and Sparx. Sparx is the group composed of four Mexican American women who were born in New Mexico. Sparx started their singing career at an early age and have included their brother Lorezo Antonio in their priceless recordings.
Sparx is one of the principal groups that have recorded traditional Spanish Music to give it a contemporary feel so that US Latins can be proud of their heritage. In the process, Sparx have been recipients of the Gold, Silver, and Platinum Records as well as Billboard and Premio Lo Nuestro Awards.
Lorenzo Antonio has had a solo career since the age of five. He has sold more than a million records at the age of twelve and was well known throughout the Americas. Lorenzo Antonio is also a composer in his own right.
In the year 2000, Lorenzo Antonio and Sparx decided to establish a scholarship for the students of the Senior Class in New Mexican High Schools who are unable to attend a university secondary to lack of funds. The name of the scholarship is the Sparx Lorenzo Antonio Foundation. The scholarship is for the brightest students in New Mexico.
It is rewarding to see how a group such as Lorenzo Antonio and Sparx has wanted to give back to their home state of New Mexico. If Lorenzo Antonio and Sparx are reading Merinews, thank you for helping the people of New Mexico with your noble gesture.
