San Luis 0-3 Tigres
The Estadio Alfonso Lastra located in San Luis Potosi in Mexico was the place where its home team the San Luis Gladiadores faced the Tigres of UANL for the Mexican League games on the third of April 2010.
It was a game that saw the Tigres dominating the field from the beginning to the end as its members Lucas Lobo, Francisco Fonseca, and Jesus Molina scored goals within the first and second half of the game. The Tigres were well organized and played a continually consistent game in San Luis Potosi.
The first goal was scored by Lucas Lobo on the basis of a penalty kick on the 26th minute. He scored a direct kick to the goal post with his right foot to the surprise of the San Luis goalkeeper. It was at that time that the Tigres started to accelerate the pace of the game.
While the Tigres suffered temporarily with two of their players Molina and Castro receiving yellow cards, they were able to recuperate and continue conquering the stadium and the game.
Francisco Fonseca surprised the goalkeeper of San Luis with a second goal with his left foot kicking the ball directly into the goal net. It occurred within 40 minutes while the Tigres crowd within the stadium screamed “Kikin, Kikin”. Kikin is Fonseca’s nickname for the Tigres camp.
The second half was a continuation of the first half with the Tigres receiving another point after Jesus Molina scored a third goal in 49 minutes. The goal was the nail in the coffin of the ambitions of the San Luis Gladiadores to score at least one point in order to avoid a humiliating defeat in their home stadium.
Unfortunately, it was not to be for San Luis as they missed opportunities to score and the Tigres took advantage of their disorganization. The substitutions and the yellow cards that affected them heavily did not help much. In the end the Tigres won during a season that occurred in of all years the Year of the Tiger.
The most valued players of the game were Lucas Lobo and Francisco Fonseca for their quick thinking that helped the Tigres. It appears that San Luis will have to return to the basics and see what transpired in an attempt to salvage what remains of their season with the Mexican League.
It remains to be seen whether San Luis can save its remaining season.
