A Tribute To CD Chivas USA

CD Chivas USA is one of the members of the league from the USA called Major League Soccer. It is also one of the clubs that is related to Chivas of Guadalajara.  Since it was founded in 2004, it has grown to one of the biggest clubs in the United States of America and the world by its contribution to world soccer.

The list of players that have played for CD Chivas USA and advanced to other clubs are notable. They include Sacha Klejstan, Juan Pablo Garcia, and Francisco Mendoza. The current players such as Maykel Galindo, Jonathan Bornstein, and Jesus Padilla continue the tradition of the club.

Jonathan Bornstein earned MLS Best XI for 2007 secondary to his participation in the team. Sacha Klejstan received the same award in 2008. Zach Thornton received the MLS Best Award as well as Goalkeeper of the Year, and Comeback Player of the Year for his participation in CD Chivas USA.

Brad Guzan [who is another CD Chivas USA Personality] was named MLS Goalkeeper of the year for 2008 for his 13 shutouts.

Bob Bradley is another example of one of the success stories from CD Chivas USA.Bob Bradley was a coach of CD Chivas USA before becoming the coach of the US Soccer Team. For his contribution to CD Chivas USA, he was named MLS Coach of the Year for 2006.

CD Chivas USA qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time in its history in the year 2006. The 2007 MLS Season ended with the club having a record of 15-7-8 as well as first place in the MLS Western Conference.

In the 2008 MLS Season, the club earned a second place berth in the MLS Western Conference with a 12-11-7 record. CD Chivas USA has been in the playoffs for four consecutive seasons in the MLS. In the same year as well as 2009 and 2010, it participated in the Superliga with success.

The year 2009 was marked with an historic game against Chivas of Guadalajara which was the first time both teams competed on US Soil. It also became involved in the community with the formation of soccer clinics to help disadvantaged youth. The program of soccer clinics earned the title: Chivas In The Park.

CD Chivas USA also is a participant in the community of Los Angeles with its visits to hospitals, participation in blood donations, and the preaching as well as practicing of tolerance between people of different backgrounds.

It is for this reason and more that CD Chivas USA deserves to have its history mentioned in Helium and the rest of the world.
