Landon Donovan is known for many things but his five biggest qualities have been during his time as a forward for the US Soccer team with 119 international caps and 39 international goals. His participation in various FIFA World Cups including the victory of the USA over Algeria in the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be remembered as one of the historical ones.

Landon Donovan will also be remembered for his participation with the LA Galaxy with occasional stints in Bayern Leverkussen, Bayern Munchen, and Everton. During his time with the LA Galaxy, he has had his differences with David Beckham since placing two Astros of soccer in the same team and field inevitably will generate conflicts which resolve by themselves.

While FIFA has been debating the merits of which country will host the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cups, Landon Donovan has been stepping up to the plate in the cause of the United States of America as hosts of the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup. It is not an easy task taking into account that England, Russia, Australia, Qatar, South Korea, Spain/Portugal, and Holland/Belgium are competing.

Landon Donovan challenged the supporters of US Soccer to reach one million signatures in a petition to FIFA in the hope that the venerable organization awards the most prestigious sporting event to the United States of America. The people have answered and there are more than one million signatures in the petition.

Mr. Donovan is involved in a charity supported by FIFA players which hopes to eradicate Malaria in Africa as well as UNICEF. The charity is called Malaria No More and he has appeared in commercials and visited Africa promoting alternative living styles in the hope of eradicating the disease which has plagued the African Continent.

He also participated in Make A Wish foundation and helped an 11 year old boy named Gerardo who is suffering from Lupus. The wish that Gerardo had was to meet Landon Donovan personally and it was granted thanks to Mr. Donovan and the Make A Wish Foundation whose purpose is to grant children with life threatening conditions a wish.

He has also been active in the Hollywood circuit by participating in the 2010 ESPY Awards with his ex wife Bianca Kajlich. It is refreshing to see two people who were once couples being able to get along without acrimony.

The five things that have been associated with Landon Donovan are the ones that make him the greatest US Soccer player off and on the field. He will be remembered as one of the US Soccer giants of the 21^st Century.
