CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Sept. 17, 2010) – Chivas USA midfielder Michael Lahoud, the August recipient of MLS W.O.R.K.S. Humanitarian of the Month honors, threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Friday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies. Tonight’s Dodger game is the 10th Annual Strike Out AIDS Night at Dodger Stadium. Lahoud was named Major League Soccer Humanitarian of the Month in August for his volunteer work with local youth, as well as his work in HIV prevention with The Wall Memorias Project

During the national HIV Testing Week in June, Lahoud took a public HIV test to help generate awareness and encourage individuals to be conscious about the disease. Lahoud is very active in the community, dedicating time each week to a local youth soccer club, Compton United. The Sierra Leone born, Virginia-raised player works with Compton United payers in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, helping with the daily lives of the 14-15 year olds.

The Chivas USA midfielder has also participated in Haiti earthquake relief efforts and has also been active in Chrysalis, an organization that assists the homeless in Los Angeles.
