Chivas USA Notes (0-1 vs. Real Salt Lake, Sandy, Utah, 5/7/11)
·         Chivas USA fell 0-1 against Real Salt Lake on Saturday afternoon at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah in front of 14,365 fans. Playing with nine men since the 37th minute of play, the Red-and-White finally conceded a goal with three minutes remaining for the final whistle.

·         With the result, the Red-and-White now has a record of 2-3-3 (9 points) in the Western Conference. Chivas USA will now play the New York Red Bulls next Sunday, May 15th, at 4:00 p.m. PT at Red Bull Arena (Galavision, Prime Ticket, 690 AM).  Chivas USA had a five game undefeated streak until this afternoon and used the same starting lineup for the third consecutive game.

·         Chivas USA defender Andrew Boyens was shown a red card after two cautions at the 15th and 24th minute for two fouls against Real Salt Lake forward Alvaro Saborio. A few minutes after that, Chivas USA midfielder Marcos Mondaini was ejected at the 37th minute after a tackle against Javier Morales, who was diagnosed with a left ankle fracture.

·         The Red-and-White defended the 0-0 tie with nine men for more than 53 minutes but conceded the goal at the 87th minute when Real Salt Lake midfielder Collen Warner sent in a cross as Will Johnson streaked to the far post. Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy had six saves during the match until then.

·         Chivas USA Head Coach Robin Fraser on today’s game: “We had a pretty good start and were able to put them under some pressure, which is a pretty hard thing to do here. ·         The Red-and-White will return to training on Tuesday, meanwhile the Reserve Team will fly to Seattle on Sunday for a Reserve League game at Seattle on Monday.
