CHIVAS USA WELCOME THE SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES TO THE HDC ON WEDNESDAY EVENING: After breaking their losing streak with a draw against the Chicago Fire, Chivas USA continue their home stand at The Home Depot Center with a weekday match against the San Jose Earthquakes.  The Wednesday July 6th match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on FSWest and W Radio 690 AM.  The Red-and-White hold the all time edge in “The New California Classico” with 4 wins, 3 losses and 4 draws in the series.  For tickets or information on the game, please visit cdchivasusa.com or call 1-877-CHIVAS-1.
 
GOATS EARN A POINT IN SATURDAY MATCH AGAINST THE FIRE: Midfielder Nick LaBrocca continued his stellar campaign, canceling out a Dominic Oduro goal with a stunning finish in the 46th minute.  The match ended at 1-1 in front of 15,152 at The Home Depot Center. RED-AND-WHITE WILL RETURN TO ROAD TO FACE SPORTING KANSAS CITY ON SATURDAY: For their one road game in the midst of a home heavy start to July, Chivas USA travels to Kansas City to take on Sporting KC in their new stadium, Livestrong Sporting Park.  The match, the second of the week for the Goats, kicks off at 4:30p.m. PT on Saturday evening, and will be broadcast on Galavision and W Radio 690 AM.  For more information on the game, please visit cdchivasusa.com or call 1-877-CHIVAS-1.
CHIVAS USA YOUTH TEAMS COMPETE IN DEVELOPMENTAL ACADEMY SUMMER SHOWCASE: The Chivas USA U-18 and U-16 wrapped up their seasons in Frisco Texas, competing in the Development Academy Summer Showcase June 23rd-28th. The U-18’s team clinched a playoff berth based on their strong season, and took part in the postseason at the showcase.  They finished their season with one win, one draw and one loss at the Showcase.  The U-16 team was undefeated in the showcase, with two wins and a draw.  More information, including league standings, statistics, and more can be found by following the links for U-18 Team and the U-16 Team. MORENO ON INTERNATIONAL DUTY WITH VENEZUELA, HELPS IN DRAW AGAINST BRAZIL: Forward Alejandro Moreno is with the Venezuela National Team and will likely be away on international duty for several weeks.  The veteran played a key role in Venezuela’s 0-0 draw with Brazil on Sunday, taking part in the final 25 minutes of the CONMEBOL Copa América opening game.  Moreno has featured several times for his national team this year, and has 31 career caps for Venezuela.
 
SIX GOATS MAKE APPERANCE ON ALL-STAR BALLOT: The list of players nominated for the MLS All-Star team was released, and six Chivas USA players made the ballot.  The Red-and-White players listed were: Justin Braun, Dan Kennedy, Ante Jazic, Nick LaBrocca, Alejandro Moreno and Heath Pearce.  Fans can vote for their favorite players at mlssoccer.com/all-star/ballot-2011.  Voting ends on July 5th, the All-Star team takes on Manchester United on July 27th at Red Bull Arena. 
 
CHIVAS USA LAUNCHED UNIQUE “HEART SOCCER CAMPS” FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN: Chivas USA held the first of five «HEART Soccer Camps,» last week at The Home Depot Center.  The camps are a new and unique outreach initiative that will connect the game of soccer to children and youth with special needs.  The first event was in collaboration with the non-profit organization World Access for the Blind and hosted a group of fifty visually impaired children, youth and their families. Each camp will be in support of youth facing a variety of illnesses and physical challenges including children with cancer and developmental disorders.  To ensure that the needs of each special needs group is met, each camp will be coordinated with different activities and with the support of specialized staff from participating non-profit groups.  Camps will take place at the Home Depot Center and feature appearances by the ChivaFighter, ChivaGirls, as well as special activities and prizes for both children and families.
 
CHIVAS USA ANNOUNCES UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP WITH PADRES CONTRA EL CANCER: Chivas USA announced last month an in-depth partnership with PADRES Contra El Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Latino families with children who suffer from cancer and blood disorders.  The mission-driven relationship will support PADRES and include fundraising and awareness campaigns that will engage Chivas USA team members, the team’s own non-profit Fundacion Chivas de Corazon USA, as well as link elements from Chivas USA’s sister-team Club Deportivo Chivas de Guadalajara.  Jimmy Conrad and Mariano Trujillo got things started by visiting a group of children undergoing cancer treatment at Children’s Hostpital of Los Angeles.  The players also taped public service announcements aimed at creating awareness about the need for more individuals to join the national bone marrow registry list. Over the course of this summer, Chivas USA will designate part of the proceeds from the ticket sales from a number of home matches to benefit PADRES, all of which will culminate with a unique night scheduled for September.  To learn more about this partnership, visit: www.cdchivasusa.com/community/padres.   
 
PEARCE PLAYS EVERY MINUTE: Defender Heath Pearce has played every minute so far this season, his first with Chivas USA.  He has now started all seventeen games for the Red-and-White, playing a total of 1,530 minutes.  Nick LaBrocca is the only other players to have started all seventeen games, but he has been substituted, leaving the 26-year old Pearce as the only Goat to play every possible minute thus far.
 
‘CHIVAS AT THE PARK’ CONTINUES SATURDAY JULY 9th IN TORRANCE: Chivas USA’s popular ‘Chivas at the Park’ program will continue with a session on Saturday, July 9 at Torrance’s Normandale Recreation Center, 22400 S. Halldale, Torrance 90501. The clinics offer participating boys and girls ages 5-15 the opportunity to learn soccer techniques and practice drills that highlight teamwork in an environment that promotes the importance of fitness for the entire family.  For only $5 each participant receives 90 minutes of soccer instruction, a Chivas at the Park t-shirt, and a certificate of completion. CHIVAS USA’S POPULAR COACHING SEMINAR COMING UP IN JULY: Join Chivas USA for a two day coaching seminar and receive insight on Chivas USA’s complete development system, from the youth system through the first team! Seminar topics will include principals of play and player development, and an on-field session will work on technical training. Registration is just $125 per coach, and includes a ticket to Chivas USA’s match against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m.. The two-day event will be held on Friday, July 15, and Saturday, July 16, and will feature on-field instruction, presentations from Head Coach Robin Fraser, Assistant Coach Greg Vanney, strength and conditioning coach Jim Liston as well as U-18 Head Coach Sacha van der Most. YOUTH TEAM TRYOUTS COMING UP IN SIMI VALLEY: Chivas USA will be holding ‘Sangre Nueva’ Youth Team tryouts coming up this summer in Simi Valley on July 23.
