CHIVAS USA JOINS MLS’ “SOCCER KICKS CANCER” CAMPAIGN
THROUGH BREAST CANCER AWARENESS NIGHT
 
Goats Players To Wear Special ‘Pink’ Gear Commemorating Night
 
Carson, CA. (Thursday, October 20, 2011) –– Chivas USA will continue its support of Major League Soccer’s Soccer Kicks Cancer initiative by hosting a special “Breast Cancer Awareness” night on Saturday, October 22 when it faces the Seattle Sounders.
 
In collaboration with MLS partners Adidas and Gatorade, Chivas USA players and referees will wear a special pink MLS W.O.R.K.S. ribbon patch on their jerseys, pink Adidas sweat bands, and pink shoelaces. To add to the awareness, a commemorative pink Adidas Jabulani match ball will be utilized as well as players will use pink sideline towels provided by Gatorade.
 
To support the League’s effort to raise funds for breast cancer research and treatment, game-worn autographed jerseys from star players Juan Pablo Angel and Heath Pearce along with a special-edition pink match ball will be available for auction at www.MLSsoccer.com/works.
 
Chivas USA’s own Soccer Kicks Cancer campaign kicked off earlier this year when it launched a year-long partnership with PADRES Contra El Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Latino families with children who suffer from cancer and blood disorders. 
 
The mission-driven relationship supported PADRES with a fundraising and awareness campaign that engaged Chivas USA players and hosted nearly two-hundred PADRES children and families at a Chivas USA HEART Soccer Camp this past September.
