CHIVAS USA ANNOUNCES 2012 SEASON SCHEDULE

 

CARSON, CA. (Thursday, January 5, 2012) Major League Soccer officially released today Chivas USA’s full regular season schedule for 2012. The Goats will play 34 matches, 17 at home and 17 away, during 34 weeks. Within each conference, the Red and White will play the same number of in-conference and out-of-conference games, 10 clubs will qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs – the top five in points from each conference at the end of the regular season.

 

Chivas USA’s 2012 regular season schedule will feature 12 nationally televised matches, including 8 on Galavision, 2 on ESPN2, one on ESPN Deportes and the Goats debut on the newly launched NBC Sports Network. 

 

First Kick 2012, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods for Chivas USA will kick off its 8th MLS season on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at The Home Depot Center against MLS Cup runner up Houston Dynamo, in a match that will be nationally televised on Galavisión at 4pm PT. For the 2012 season the SuperClasico will be featured on 3 occasions, including 2 of those matches with the Goats as the home team.

 

The 2012 MLS Regular Season will conclude Sunday, Oct. 28 with three games, followed by the MLS Cup Playoffs and the championship game – MLS Cup 2012 – on Dec. 1, hosted by one of the two finalists. From First Kick to MLS Cup, the calendar footprint of the 2012 season is 267 days – the longest in League history (as is the regular season, at 232 days).
