CHIVAS USA TRAVEL ADVISORY UPDATE
Goats will depart on Sunday to Portland for tournament
CARSON, Calif. (Saturday, February 25, 2012) As previously announced by Chivas USA, the club will travel tomorrow Sunday, February 26 to Portland for their final pre-season matches in a four-team tournament from February 27 through March 4, hosted by the Portland Timbers at JELD-WEN Field in Oregon. Along with host Timbers, the Red-and-White will be joined by Sweden’s AIK from the Allsvenskan first-division and MLS Western Conference opponents the San Jose Earthquakes.
The tournament will consist of three doubleheader sessions at JELD-WEN Field, with Chivas USA and AIK kicking off the round-robin format Monday, Feb. 27, at 5 pm PT. The Red and White will finish their pre-season tune-up at the tournament on Sunday March 4 against San Jose. This will be the Goats final pre-season match prior to the season opener at Home Depot Center scheduled for Sunday March 11 at 4:00 pm PT against MLS Cup runner up Houston Dynamo.
The following is the breakdown of the tournament schedule along with training schedule for the Rojiblancos while in Portland:
