Last Match vs. New England Revolution
Chivas USA 3, New England Revolution 2; Aug. 6, 2011; Gillette Stadium
Chivas USA defeated New England, 3-2, in the clubs’ previous match on Aug. 6, led by Alejandro Moreno’s two-goal performance and aided by Nick LaBrocca’s goal and assist at Gillette Stadium. Moreno knocked-in his first goal on the night in the 31st minute with LaBrocca recording the assist. In the 59th minute, LaBrocca put the Goats up by two with his unassisted goal. The Revs attempted a comeback late in the match with a goal in the 69th minute by now-Goat Shalrie Joseph. The Rojiblancos, however, found their third goal in the 80th minute on Moreno’s second strike. New England responded late in the 86th minute with another goal, but it was not enough to come back on the Red-and-White.
Chivas USA – New England Revolution Rivalry
Head-to-head competition between the clubs dates back to 2005, where each squad claimed a win apiece in the season series. The Goats hold the advantage in the all-time series at 7-5-2 and have won the last five matches against the Revs, including four shutouts.
GOATS NOTES AND FACTS
Rojiblancos Dangerous on the Road
The Goats continue to show that they are a dangerous team on the road, as they are unbeaten in eight of their 10 road games, including four wins.
First (and only) Match-Up Against New England:
Wednesday’s game at Gillette Stadium will mark the first and only meeting between Chivas USA and New England this year. With MLS’s new unbalanced schedule, some cross-conference foes play just once, meaning the Revs will not travel to Carson to face Chivas USA until next season.
Iron Goats
All-Star goalkeeper Dan Kennedy and right back James Riley have played in every minute (2070) of Chivas USA’s 23 games.
Bowen Making Immediate Impact
Forward Tristan Bowen has appeared in Chivas USA’s previous two matches and has recorded an assist in each one. The 21-year-old made his season debut as a sub in Colorado and made his first start of the season Saturday against Seattle.
Three Academy Goats Named To U.S. U-17 MNT Residency Program
The roster for the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team Residency Program was finalized for the 2012 Fall Semester, with 31 players selected to train full-time in Bradenton, Fla. Under the guidance of head coach Richie Williams, the players are in preparation for the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship from April 6-19 in Panama. Representing Chivas USA are: defenders Adonis Amaya (Westminster, Calif.), and Malcom Jones (Chino Hills, Calif.), and forward Bradford Jamieson (Los Angeles, Calif.).
Super Dan Kennedy Between The Posts:
Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy continues to show why he was selected as a 2012 All-Star. Kennedy has recorded seven shutouts this season and has made 81 saves for the Red-and-White, which is good enough for 3rd in the league. The Southern California native’s goals against average of 1.39.
