Chivas USA remain home for a second consecutive week to begin the new season when they entertain FC Dallas on Sunday evening at The Home Depot Center. Chivas began their new era under José Luis Sánchez Sola with a 3-0 season-opening defeat by the Columbus Crew. FC Dallas hit the road after starting off their new campaign with a 1-0 win against the Colorado Rapids in Frisco.

Six Players Make Their MLS Debut with ‘Chelis’
The season opener on March 2 marked the MLS debut of Head Coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola “Chelis,” as well as six current members of the Red-and-White roster. Defenders Mario de Luna, Joaquin Velazquez and Walter Vilchez; midfielders Edgar “El Chore” Mejia, Giovani Casillas and Marvin Iraheta; and forward Julio Morales logged their first minutes and were part of the starting eleven.

Guadalajara-born Forward and SoCal Product Join the Rebaño Angelino
Chivas USA announced last Tuesday that it signed forward Jose Manuel Rivera and defender Daniel Antunez. Rivera, a 26-year-old native from Guadalajara, has been a part of Mexico’s Primera Division side Atlas, Jaguares, Toluca and Pachuca. Rivera has also spent time in Europe with clubs in Hungary, Slovakia and most recently in Finland.

Antunez, 27, was born in Santa Ana, Calif. before moving to Texas where he was an All-State high school player. He was drafted in the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft by the Colorado Rapids. Before joining Chivas USA, Antunez played for the USL Rochester Rhinos, Estudiantes Tecos and FC Inter Turku in Finland.

Chivas USA and FCD played to a 1-1 draw the last time the sides met at The HDC. The visitors took an early lead on a Blas Perez goal. In the 69th minute, Miller Bolaños worked the ball on the right wing and crossed a pass near the short area intended for the cutting Juan Pablo Angel. Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman was able to get a hand on the ball which deflected to the area where Jorge Villafaña was roaming. The midfielder gathered the ball and was able to equalize the match with his right-footed shot.

The All-Time series began in 2005 in Chivas USA’s inaugural campaign.
FCD holds the series lead in games held at The Home Depot Center at 3-5-2.
The sides have scored nearly an equal number of goals in 10 all-time meetings at The HDC, with FCD holding a 16-14 edge.
Juan Agudelo and Laurent Courtois scored the last two goals for the Goats against FCD.
In 22 all-time matches between the sides, the clubs have averaged nearly two and half goals (2.4).
