El encuentro de este sábado por la noche entre Chivas USA (3-10-2) y el New England Revolution (5-5-5), donde el Oeste chocará con el Este, marcará el único duelo de los clubes esta temporada. Los Rojiblancos llegan a este partido buscando salir de la mala racha en la que se encuentran y conseguirle su primera victoria en la Major League Soccer al nuevo Director Técnico José Luis Real. Los Revs entran al encuentro, programado para las 7:30 p.m. (Tiempo del Pacífico) en el StubHub Center, con un récord de 2-2-1 en el mes de junio con dos derrotas al hilo y habiendo perdido contra D.C. United el miércoles en los Cuartos de Final de la Copa Abierta de EE.UU. Lamar Hunt.

La escuadra Rojiblanca cuenta con una ventaja de 7-5-3 en el historial y se ha defendido bien como local ante New England, con cinco victorias y un empate de siete partidos en Carson, sumando 12 dianas y recibiendo tres goles en contra. En el choque más reciente entre las escuadras el año pasado, Chivas USA remontó tres goles para salir del Gillette Stadium con un empate a tres y asegurarse un punto en ese partido en agosto.

Fuera de la cancha, los clubes han estado en contacto recientemente con el segundo traspaso de jugadores en dos años seguidos. Los Revs adquirieron al delantero Juan Agudelo este mayo, mientras que el año pasado Chivas USA se hizo de los servicios del mediocampista Shalrie Joseph en agosto.

La defensa rojiblanca tendrá que estar atenta a las armas de los Revs en todo momento. El delantero Diego Fagúndez ha marcado cinco goles para New England mientras que el mediocampista Kelyn Rowe lidera al equipo con cinco asistencias y dos goles esta temporada. Además de ellos dos, los Revs tendrán como ayuda en el ataque a Saer Sene y Lee Nguyen.

Para el Rebaño Angelino, estarán sin dos de sus jugadores que han sido titulares esta temporada, el defensa Steven Purdy y el delantero Julio Morales, ambos en convocatoria internacional con El Salvador y la Sub-20 de México, respectivamente. Bajo la tutela y el liderazgo de “El Güero” Real, el Rebaño buscará mejorar y ejecutar las nuevas estrategias implementadas por el ex-técnico de Chivas Guadalajara.

Morales y México avanzan a la siguiente ronda con victoria contundente ante Mali

El delantero de Chivas USA Julio Morales y la Selección Nacional Mexicana Sub-20 mantuvieron viva su participación en la Copa Mundial Sub-20 de la FIFA con una victoria convincente de 4-1 este viernes sobre su similar de Mali. De cara al último juego del Grupo D, El Tri se encontraba sin puntos dentro del grupo, con derrotas ante Grecia y Paraguay y necesitaba una victoria contundente para posicionarse dentro de los mejores equipos que ocupan el tercer lugar del torneo.

Desde el minuto 13 del encuentro, México logró hacerse con la ventaja con dos goles, uno de Marco Bueno y otro de Jesús Corona. Mali logró contrarrestar y anotar al minuto 62, justo antes de que entrara Morales y tuviera su debut dentro del torneo. Con el joven chiva en el campo, México logró anotar dos tantos más para finiquitar el partido en Gaziantep.

Con la victoria, Morales y El Tri consiguieron su boleto a la Ronda de 16 después de esperar los resultados de los otros grupos para determinar si continuarían con vida dentro del torneo en Turquía. México logró tres puntos dentro de la primera ronda con una diferencia positiva de un gol. Dentro de los equipos que se encuentran en el tercer lugar de sus grupos, sólo la República de Corea ha logrado también avanzar como equipo en tercer lugar con cuatro puntos sumados y una diferencia de goles de cero. Uruguay es el único equipo que cuenta con tres puntos y un partido restante por enfrentar.

Resumen: La Sub-15/16 cierra la liguilla con victoria

La Sub-15/16 de Chivas USA obtuvo una victoria de 3-1 ante Oakwood Soccer Club el viernes por la mañana en FC Dallas Park como parte de su tercer y último partido de la Liguilla de la Academia de Desarrollo de la Federación de Fútbol de Estados Unidos. A pesar de obtener dos victorias y una derrota en su campaña de la Liguilla, los Rojiblancos han sido eliminados de la Semana de Semifinales después de que Texans SC Houston derrotara al South Carolina United Battery Academy, también el viernes por la mañana colocándolos en el primer lugar ya que sólo el mejor equipo de cada grupo avanza a la siguiente ronda.

El primer gol de Jorge Ruiz en el partido abrió el marcador en el minuto 10. Tres minutos antes de que terminara la primera mitad, Axel Méndez anotó el segundo del partido, poniendo a los Rojiblancos con la ventaja por 2-0 en el marcador. En los primeros minutos de la segunda mitad, Oakwood pudo anotar su primera y única diana del día. Ruiz luego anotó su segundo gol del partido tras una asistencia de Adonis Amaya para el marcador final de 3-1 a favor de Chivas USA.

Último día de labores de cara al duelo de Oeste contra Este

Chivas USA concluyó este viernes por la mañana su semana de labores de cara a su partido pactado el sábado por la noche ante su similar de la Conferencia del Este en el StubHub Center a partir de las 7:30 p.m. (PT). La sesión inicio con un trote alrededor del campo y pasó a elevar el ritmo de la actividad al realizarse dos juegos de torito con dos elementos en el centro del círculo buscando recuperar el balón. Mientras, los porteros entrenaban a parte al practicar sus atajadas al poste cercano al recibir disparos dentro del área.

El cuadro después realizó trabajo de definición bajo el mando del Director Técnico José Luis Real y su auxiliar técnico Marco Fabián, con cruces de balón desde los dos lados del área con un portero defendiendo las redes. El ejercicio utilizó media cancha y el desarrollo de la jugada iniciaba dentro de la raya que divide el campo. La escuadra luego pasó a afinar su táctica al practicar sus tiros de esquina y jugadas de balón parado.

La mañana concluyó con una competencia amistosa de tiros de penales entre algunos elementos rojiblancos. Después se les dio el resto del día libre al completar una tanda de estiramientos. La escuadra se concentrará mañana en el hotel del equipo antes del partido ante el Revolution.

West Meets East

Saturday night’s match between Chivas USA (3-10-2) and the New England Revolution (5-5-5), where the West will square off against the East, will mark the first and only meeting between the clubs this season. The Rojiblancos enter the match looking to snap their current winless streak and will be in search of their first win under new Head Coach José Luis Real. The Revs come into the 7:30 p.m. (PT) match at the StubHub Center with a 2-2-1 record in the month of June, including two straight losses in League play, and having lost to D.C. United on Wednesday in the Quarterfinal Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

The Red-and-White lead the all-time series over the Eastern Conference side at 7-5-3, and have had a lot of success when hosting them. The Goats have defended home well against the Revs with a record of 5-1-1 and outscoring them 12-3. In the sides’ most recent contest last season, Chivas USA stormed back on the road from three goals down to come away from Gillette Stadium with a 3-3 tie to secure a point in late August.

Aside from their battles on the pitch, the clubs have recently become acquainted with each other on the transaction front, as they pulled off a trade for the second consecutive year. The Revs acquired forward Juan Agudelo from the Goats in May, while last season Chivas USA acquired midfielder Shalrie Joseph in August.

The Red-and-White defense will have to be aware of the Revs’ weapons on the pitch at all times. Forward Diego Fagundez has tallied five goals for New England and midfielder Kelyn Rowe leads the team with five assists to go along with two goals this season. In addition to them, the Revs as usual will feature the attacking play of Saer Sene and Lee Nguyen.

For the Rebaño Angelino, they will be without two players who have started matches for them this season in defender Steven Purdy and forward Julio Morales, who are both on international duty with El Salvador and Mexico’s U-20 Team, respectively. But with three weeks now under the tutelage and leadership of “El Güero” Real, the Goats will look to continue to improve and execute the new strategies that the former Chivas Guadalajara manager has implemented.

Morales and El Tri Close Out Group D Play with Authority to Qualify for Round of 16

Chivas USA forward Julio Morales and Mexico’s U-20 National Team advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup with Friday’s 4-1 rout over Mali’s U20s. Going into their final game in Group D play, El Tri found itself pointless in the group, having dropped their first two matches against Greece and Paraguay and needed a convincing win to position itself among the leading third-place teams in the tournament.

Mexico took a 2-0 advantage by the 13th minute on goals by Marco Bueno and Jesús Corona. Mali cut the lead in half with its score in the 62nd minute right before Morales entered the match to make his tournament debut for Sergio Almaguer’s squad. With the young Goat on the pitch, Mexico was able to pull away with two additional scores to put the exclamation point in the victory played in Gaziantep.

With the win, Morales and El Tri now have second life in the tournament, having waited for results from the other groups to determine if their stay in Turkey would be extended or if they would be bowing out of the World Cup. Mexico secured three points in the tournament with a goal differential of plus one. Currently, among other teams that occupy third place in their respective groups, only Korea Republic has also punched its ticket to the next round, which has recorded four points (goal differential of zero). Uruguay has three points as well, however with one match remaining.

Recap: U15/16’s Close Playoff Run with Victory

Chivas USA’s U15/16 Team earned a 3-1 victory over Oakwood Soccer Club on Friday morning at FC Dallas Park as part of their third and final match of U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs. Despite two wins and a loss in their playoff run, the Red-and-White have been eliminated from the Finals Week after the Texans SC Houston defeated the South Carolina United Battery Academy also on Friday morning, putting them in first place; only the top team of each group advance to the next round.

Jorge Ruiz opened up the scoreboard as early as the 10th minute of the match, scoring his first of the game. Three minutes before the end of the first half, Axel Méndez notched the second goal of the match, putting the Goats up 2-0. Early in the second half, Oakwood was able to notch their only goal of the match. Ruiz would notch his second of the match in the second half of the game off an assist by Adonis Amaya for the final 3-1 victory.

Final Work Day Prior to West vs. East Clash

Chivas USA concluded their work week Friday morning ahead of Saturday night’s match at the StubHub Center against Eastern Conference opponent the New England Revolution starting at 7:30 p.m. (PT). The squad initiated the morning session with a light jog around the pitch and proceeded to increase the activity with two separate games of “torito” beginning with two teammates in the center of the drill. Meanwhile, the goalkeepers worked individually in front of the goal by stopping shots aimed inside the near post from inside the box.

The team was then led by Head Coach José Luis Real and Assistant Coach Marco Fabián to complete finishing drills with crosses from both sides of the box with a ‘keeper in goal. The drill ran the length of half the pitch and began its build-up just inside the midfield circle. The group then moved on to practicing corner kicks and set pieces in the attacking third.
