Roberta Pimentel : From Brazil to Norway and Beyond

During the decade of The Alvarez-Galloso News Hour [with nine of them in WordPress], it is not everyday that one encounters a blog which promotes positive energy. I had the honor of visiting Roberta Pimentel’s blog and it is one of my favorites for the above reason as well as the promotion of Norway and Brazil.

I was intrigued by the blog that a decision was made to interview Ms. Pimentel and she accepted. This was conducted by E Mail from Florida to Norway with the rest being history.

1.       What inspired you to start your blog «Roberta Pimentel»?

I started to be able to connect with the people around the globe and being able to share the things that I love. I love to share.

  1. What have you seen in Brazil and Norway which are similar and different? This would be in regard to health, sports, food and culture.

Regarding health there are some differences when it comes to the health care system. In Norway we have more rights if we get sick. In Brazil you need an insurance in order to get help quickly. However, I would say that there are more depressed people in Norway compared to Brazil.

When it comes to food Norwegians eat a lot of fish even though we have bacalao in Brazil. The Norwegian salmon is very famous. In Brazil we tend to eat more rice, beans and meat.

Norway is a winter sport country and the Norwegians are crazy for all kinds of winter sport activities. In Brazil we are very passionate about football.

Brazilians are more open to people while Norwegians are more conservative.

  1. In which city or village in Norway do you live? What are the areas of interest culturally, food, or sports would you recommend to someone visiting?

I live in Stavanger where football and ice hockey are the most visited sports. Culturally Stavanger has a food festival every year and an old timber house area. I would recommend the visitors to have a walk there and also visit the fjords in the area.

  1. Rio 2016 is expected to be a success. What do you expect or hope to (expect) during and aftet the matches?

I expect that people will treat one another nicely. I am a bit worried about the high crime rate in Rio and I hope that tourists are careful. I don’t recommend people to wear costly things and only have cash on hand that they will use that night. I have been robbed myself.

  1. Besides Brazil and Norway, have you visited other countries? If the answer is yes, how are they compared to Brazil and Norway?

I have been in Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany, Turkey, France, Spain and Sweden.

Portugal, France and Spain are very similar cultural vice where as I find the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden similar where they are very polite. In Turkey they are also very friendly just as in Portugal, France and Spain.

  1. Forbes Magazine listed Norway as one of the top ten happiest countries in the world along with other Scandinavian countries. Why is Norway considered one of the happiest countries in the world?

I don’t necessarily believe this is true and the Norwegians love to claim and show their happiness while the truth is that they are not that happy inside. Happiness is related to success in Norway and this is a sign of status.

  1. In a previous article, you wrote about moving to Canada (also one of the top ten happiest countries in the list). Why would you want to move to Canada?

Well, I think that my boyfriend has influenced me a bit on that one. He really loves the country because of areas like Quebec and Toronto, the nature there is a amazing, and he love hockey. I really like what he has told me about the country and the opportunities that are there. Every person we have spoken to as nothing but positive things to say about Canada so we have to travel for a visit very soon. Norway is struggling big time with the low oil prices now where the country has been to dependent on the oil sector. We will see what the future will bring

  1. What are the most important festivals in your area of Norway?

As I mentioned above we have the food festival which is really great with a lot of exiting food from local farmers and some international food as well. Besides, there is a yearly international volleyball tournament in Stavanger.

  1. I have seen You Tube videos of you dancing, doing Zumba, or cooking. Have you thought of adding these videos or making new videos with these subjects to your blog?

The reason for this question is that in Miami Florida, there are many videos for how to cook, there is another one of exercise called K-21 hosted by a Nutritionist and Exercise Expert from Puerto Rico whose name is Karen Velez.

An example of a cooking video is La Cocina Cultural con Ana Gimenez (Spanish and Catalonian Actress and Singer). I myself will repost one of my attempts at a cooking show.

I am going to do it in English very soon but my English accent is very funny and I am not looking forward to listen to myself. My boyfriend is not a native speaker either but helps me as best as he can to correct posts etc. However, I am thinking to do it very soon.

  1. What is your message to my readers and the world?

I think that the most important thing is to be yourself at any time and don’t care when people try to break you. Live your life with the style that you want and as long as you don’t harm others the world will learn something from you.

Thank you so much for this interview and it was really fun to be a part of it. I cannot wait to see this on your blog. Thank you for the collaboration.

For me, this is a pleasure and honor for you to be interviewed in my blog. My best wishes for you and your boyfriend wherever your travel takes you. I also want to thank my readers for their time with us in reading this interview and being loyal during the decade.
