I remember Kaliningrad in ruins, during a class field trip in 1959. It was «the last frontier.» Now they are building there and inviting the world!

Thanks for sharing. They are building a lot. I would have loved to go to Russia but my understanding was that Kaliningrad was Konigsberg until the end of WW II before the arrival of the Russians and the nane change

Yes it was, and we lived for a few years in Chernyakhovsk, which had been Instenburg before the Russians annexed Eastern Prussia and deported all German families who survived the war. It was about an hour by school bus, much closer than from us to Disney World.
