A KANGAROO IMPEACHMENT
A kangaroo court is a court that ignores recognized standards of law or justice, and often carries little or no official standing in the territory within which it resides. The term may also apply to a court held by a legitimate judicial authority who intentionally disregards the court’s legal or ethical obligations.
If you think the above cartoon’s purpose is to be funny, think again. In their attempt to reverse the will of the voters, the democrat party started the calls for impeachment even before president elect Trump had a chance to swear his oath of office.
Our framers had a simple solution to stop a president from being in office; it was elections to be held every four years. If their deeds were so egregious that an action had to be taken sooner, the Articles of Impeachment were established.
Great care was taken to make this process as rare as possible, requiring treason, bribes or high crimes and misdemeanors to be the charges and a majority of the House and 2/3rds of the Senate to approve, the Senate trial lead by the SCOTUS leader. Nothing even close to what our Constitution mandates is being followed in the course of action that is being taken.
The practice should start by a vote from “the house”, so reads the Constitution. It does not say “the speaker” or any committee chair! It is true that our forefathers gave ample leeway to the Congress to make their rules to follow process so we then have to ascertain what has happened in the past, (precedent).
In all past impeachments the whole house voted to start the inquiry, and it has been done by the Judiciary Committee. It has always been a bipartisan effort, with due process, the accused able to subpoena witnesses, have attorney present, cross examine, all open to public view.
The house accusations can, and often are, more political than crimes but in the Senate it follows judicial rules before declaring guilt or innocence. What is being enacted presently is an oversight from the intelligence committee, behind closed doors, the public only hearing “leaks” by the democrat leader and repeated by the parrots in the media.
What we have heard so far are multiple claims that if analyzed objectively at worse are examples of inappropriate behavior, some unwritten rules broken, all in different fronts and a common thread of witnesses belonging to the entrenched bureaucracy. Yesterday I heard a press pundit blame the White House for “stonewalling” comparing it to Clinton’s WH!
He did not mention that at that time due process was followed, established bipartisan rules led the investigation, totally different than the kangaroo impeachment we are witnessing. Speaker Pelosi again stated that she will not, for the moment, have the whole House vote to start the true inquiry, confirming that what we are witnessing now is nothing more than the swamp defending its existence by doing what they do best, dirty politics.
