Birdseye View of the Midterms

Well, for starters, let me apologize to you all. I will be the first one to admit how wrong I was in my predictions that Republicans would win by a wave yesterday. I was driven by my wishful thinking, but I could not have been farther from the truth, could I? Instead, it was precisely the other way around, it was a Democrat tsunami was it not? I could not believe my eyes last night as all throughout the night I kept looking at blue candidates all over the nation as their numbers and percentages were crushing Republicans.

Never in my wildest dreams, did I think for moment we were going to get our asses kicked the way they did last night. I was specially taken aback by the results right here in our own backyard, here in Florida. We, in Florida, were known for our “redness,” by statistics one of the most conservative, one of the most Republican states in the union, yet, if you noticed, the races were far closer than I ever thought.

As a matter of fact, for a moment there, I thought Republican Byron Dolands was neck in neck with Democrat David Jolly, I even thought he [Donalds] was going to lose the battle. Ditto in the race between Democrat Elliot Rodriguez and Republican Maria Elvira Salazar, who, by the way I cannot stand, but the fact this race was so close just tells me there must have been a lot of Cuban American democrats voters. And again, as far as I am concerned, I cannot still conceive how any Cuban can be a Democrat – then again that is why we have been here for sixty-nine years. Shame on them all.

I watched some of the news this morning as I wanted to hear the comments on last night’s slaughtering and, I hate to say, many still do not get it, do they? Most commentators today, as expected, are looking at last night’s results in terms of the smaller picture, it was about gas prices, the economy, the war, etc., to me, I look at it in the bigger scope of things. I think last night was instrumentally huge in terms of where this nation is. There was a colossal message sent last night. I thought these midterms were a referendum on Donald Trump, and, by default on democracy, capitalism and our Constitutional Republic as opposed to a generational change towards becoming a full-blown Communist State – that simple and stupid.

The fact that Americans from all walks of life have now elected a Zohran Mandani as Mayor of the nation’s iconic New York City, the fact that we elected Abdul El-Sayed and a James Talarico as Senators, the fact that Texas Governor Greg Abbott lost and the fact that Maine Senator Susan Collins lost to Democrat Troy Jackson, all of them, independently and combined just tell me that this nation is now democratically sanctioning communists much like Venezuela did a few years back when they elected Hugo Chavez as their President.

In short friends, followers, as far as I am concerned, sorry to say, I truly believe last nights was a clear message that Americans, the same Americans that I thought had red, white, and blue in their DNA, seem to, for whatever reasons, want a change towards a system that has proven to have failed over and over again. There is, I think, some romantic misconception that deals with the word “socialism” as opposed to the real term, “communism.”  Admittedly, the word “socialism” is a soft term that connotes goodness, when it is precisely the other way around. I think that many Americans cannot even spell the word communism, let alone understand what the system is all about. But, like always, they [communists] have a way with words to make it sound palatable. Who, I ask, does not like “something for nothing” – a quid-pro-quo with all to win and nothing to lose.

Whether we want to admit it, accept it, condone it, approve of it or not, whether we like it or we don’t, the bottom line is that the United States of America, is turning into another Soviet Union, another China, another Venezuela, another Cuba. Yes, it is sad, but it is true. I hope that I am as wrong in what I am going to say as I was in my predictions of yesterday’s results but, I thought yesterday marked “the beginning of the end” of the United States we once knew. You are, obviously, entitled to disagree with my conclusion, if you do, however, all I ask you to do is, please, look closely at yesterday’s results. The fall of Texas in their Senate and Governorship should be enough for everyone to “wake up and smell the coffee.”  For me is not anymore, a matter of “if,” but a matter of “when.”
