Tattoos + Body Piercing = Dangerous and Hazardous

The latest fad of the year 2009 as well as 2008 is the tattoos and the piercing of different body parts. Regardless of whether it is the latest fad or not, tattoos and body piercing have been with the human race since the beginning of time. It appears to have undergone many forms of evolution.

At one time, tattoos and body piercing were signs and symbols of belong to a certain tribe, culture, or social class. It has been used as a sign of rebellion and revolution for as long as there has been a recorded history. Regardless, tattoos and body piercing may be popular styles but they are disgusting and go against the rules of hygiene. It can also lead to various diseases that can be imagined.

In the Bible as well as other books of religion and belief, the human body is the temple of God. The human body should not be defiled with any form of markings and should not be pierced in anyway except in the case of an emergency when a tumour, cyst, or other forms of deadly disease must be removed along with the dead tissue.

Many readers who are non believers may wander why all of the emphasis on God when a person has a right to do with his or her body part as they please. I will agree with the non believer about the right of people to deface their bodies if they are willing to inform themselves of the scientific and health implications of tattoos and body piercings. The people have a right to inform themselves of how a tattoo can be permanently grafted onto the skin.

When a person decides to tattoo themselves, they chose to allow someone to inject ink [which is a foreign substance] into their skin. This injection is permanent and can be removed only after a painful process. At times, a permanent scar can be left where the tattoo was placed.

It must be remembered that in certain states such as California, the person must be of 18 years of age and above with the piercing being done by a licensed individual. For those who favor mouth piercing, the American Dental Association has declared it a public hazard and has published information about the side effects from mouth piercing such as problems chewing, allergic reactions, pain, infection, increased salivary flow, and blood borne Hepatitis Infection.

If the person wants to continue with his or idea of entertainment by tattoo and body piercing, the side effects are the following: Allergies, Urinary Infections, HIV Viruses [the virus that has the AIDS Disease], Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis D, Redness, Soreness,

And Bleeding. If a person is a Diabetic, they should think twice before getting a tattoo and a body piercing.

According to the website of the Mayo Clinic, Tattoos and Body Piercing has been linked with diseases such as Tuberculosis and Tetanus. There have been links between Tattoos and Body Piercing with excessive scars called keloids as well as pneumonia secondary to bacteria resistant antibiotics as well as a condition called Necrotizing Fasciitis.

Necrotizing Fasciitis is a condition caused by the Streptococcus Pyogenes. Necrotizing Fasciitis is one of the side effects and complications of Tattoos and Body Piercing in which the bacteria eats the flesh to the point of killing muscle, skin, and tissues. The eventual complication of this side effect is shock.

There have also been reported cases of extreme allergic reactions to the red ink used in tattoos for a long time after the tattoo is installed in the body. Remember all of the «great» diseases that happen when you choose to tattoo or pierce yourself.
