CHIVAS USA’S ZAMORA AND DE LA FUENTE NAMED TO UNDER-20 NATIONAL TEAM
 
Red-and-White midfielders to join Rongen’s 20 men roster for tournament running from May 22-24 in the Netherlands
 
CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, May 5, 2010) – Chivas USA midfielder Cesar Zamora and Chivas USA Under-18 midfielder Bryan de la Fuente have been named by Head Coach Thomas Rongen to the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team roster for the Cor Groenewegen Tournament in the Netherlands.
 
The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team will travel to Uitgeest, Netherlands, from May 14-25 to compete in the Cor Groenewegan Tournament. Rongen will bring 20 players to his native Holland for the competition, which will include four international matches. Though the tournament schedule has not yet been finalized, the U.S. team will play friendly matches against Senegal on May 18 and Korea Republic on May 20.
 
Zamora, a native of Sylmar, Calif., has played with Chivas USA’s Youth Academy since 2007 and has been a member of the First Team since 2009. Bryan de la Fuente has also played with Chivas USA’s Youth Academy since 2007 and participated in prestigious international youth tournaments such as Copa Internacional Chivas and Copa Saprissa.
 
Zamora and De la Fuente joined the U.S. U-20 National Team at the Dallas Cup last month. Both players started in two of the three matches where the U.S. finished the tournament with a 1-2 record. Zamora also joined the U-20 team for the Copa Ciudad de Rosario in Argentina in August of 2009. 
 
After tonight’s match at New England (4:30 p.m. PT, Prime Ticket, KWHY, and W Radio 690 AM), the Red-and-White will return to The Home Depot Center on Saturday, May 8, taking on the Houston Dynamo at 7:30 p.m. PT. The match is Armed Forces Night, and the first 7500 fans through the gates will receive a commemorative Armed Forces hat.
