HEATH PEARCE, DEFENDER FOR CHIVAS USA WILL NOT BE JOINING USMNT
Pearce will miss current call up due to the injury sustained during last Saturday’s match
Carson, CA. (Monday, August 29, 2011) – The United States Men’s National Team will have to do without the services of Chivas USA’s defender Heath Pearce who will miss his current call up to the US National Team due to a hamstring injury sustained during last Saturday’s August 27 match against Real Salt Lake. This recent call up was for the international friendly against Costa Rica on Friday, September 2 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. This was Pearce’s second call up by new USMNT Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
In addition to Pearce receiving the call from Coach Klinsmann, four other Goats were also hailed for international duty for this round of official FIFA dates. Fellow defenders Michael Umaña, by his native Costa Rica who will face the US National Team on Friday September 2 at The Home Depot Center and Canadian veteran Ante Jazic who’s match versus St Luica in Toronto will officially begin Canada’s quest to Brazil 2014. Alejandro Moreno will also be joining La Vinotinto in Caracas, Venezuela for his team’s match on Tuesday, September 6 versus Guinea. Michael Lahoud was additionally called up by Sierra Leone but has not determined whether or not he will be incorporating or not, Lahoud is currently nursing a right ankle injury.
Pearce will be reevaluated in the coming days for a more precise diagnostic and estimate of possible playing time he could potentially miss.
As the season draws closer to its end Chivas USA will return to action on Saturday September 10 after the Labor Day and well deserved lay-off and face off against East Coast foes DC United in Carson at The Home Depot Center. The match is scheduled for kick off at 7:30 pm (Pacific Time), and will be broadcast on TV through KDOC-TV and KWHY Channel 22, and Radio on W Radio 690 AM.
